When is it humane to euthanise unwanted eggs?

Mostly because in my area is difficult to obtain these eggs, so they are purchased from online. It’s unlikely they will all hatch and everywhere I read tells me to incubate more than I need because of this. Selling the chicks will be quite difficult as demand is low in my location so I’d like to avoid that if possible.
For situations like that, my choice would be to let them all hatch, raise them for a while, and then butcher a few for meat. (But if any seemed unhealthy after hatching, I would cull them at that time, rather than trying to raise unhealthy ones for any length of time.)

This would increase the chances of having 4 healthy ducklings, and avoid the difficulty of selling them.

(If you already considered this idea and rejected it, then I apologize for bringing it up-- I didn't notice it anywhere in the thread.)

Hi there,
I’m hatching a few Muscovy Eggs. Currently have 6 going but I’ll only need about 4, I’ve been wondering to what point it is humane that I dispose of any extra unwanted eggs if too many develop? I read it’s up until 80% of growth, on what day of incubation will they be 80%? I would hate to think I’m causing them much pain.
Many thanks 🐣
If this is your first time incubating Muscovy eggs, as a Muscovy owner/hatcher, I suggest trying to hatch all of them since Muscovy eggs can be difficult to hatch.

I can understand not wanting more than you can handle. If you are incubating a small hatch group, I would let them all continue with development. When people say a lot can go wrong, they are right. They can stop developing even just before hatching and sometimes they die in the egg. You can also put an add up and see if you have anyone interested in extra ducklings before they hatch.
