I set some chicken eggs yesterday & am thinking I might do one more hatch of quail, but that I am pretty much done for the season. When do you typically do your last hatch?

My last eggs hatched on the 27th of April.

I'm hoping I can hatch out one hovabator full next year. In January.

How long do you brood yours inside that you hatch out in January? I really don't enjoy keeping them in the basement too long... and we don't have permission of the extended family to use the barn or any of the outbuildings for our chickens;)

At what age can they handle being outdoors in the fall/winter?

I'm pretty sure we'll keep hatching all year also. Especially since my emu will begin laying eggs in November and I definitely want to put some in the 'bator this year.

It all just depends upon the supply of eggs and the demand (from buyers) for chicks.

whichever ones are set closest to 12/31/2009 at midnight! which maybe i will set some just then!!!!! in fact, i shall plan on it!
