Where did they come from???

If BF feels he needs to be utilitarian about the wood, he can cut slices of it and make lovely rustic boards for inside, used as bread board or to use for parties as presentation pieces. Could make great Christmas gifts, or they sell here in the city for $75-$100 a piece. I would not use them as fire wood! IMHO
To him...any tree he cuts down sole purpose is firewood. He's a bit obsessed about it actually...lol There's campfire wood...wood stove wood....smoking wood...this wood goes in this pile...this wood goes there..."NO, don't use THAT wood! Use THIS wood..." I just pay no mind to the wood thing. lol But...we built the coop near where he dumped the latest tree that he cut...so...the pieces are just sitting there...staring at me. :D

Do tell me more about this $75-$100 a piece stuff.... Just sliced trees?

Oh...okay. lol I was thinking what in the world??? Okay...wood in crate...got it.

The boyfriend will definitely think I've lost my mind putting timber inside a dog crate...inside the run. :lau

We had a tree struck by lightening, and my hubby finally finished cutting it down. There was a cool looking section that he wasn't going to split for firewood, where the trunk met with 3 or 4 branches. I thought it would be great for the chicks to climb on! OMG, I carried it into the run, and you'd have thought it was a HAWK. They ran to the other side, bawked their heads off, until I retrieved it. I thought my ducks were bad about change, but the chickens wanted nothing to do with a big chunk-o-wood.

I made this with trees from my farm property, skinned with a draw-knife, all done by hand, by myself. Its my bed at the farm.

yes dried raw wood, some with bark still in place, some without bark Sorry tried to add picture with no luck. Hubby won't be home until late tonight will send picture of board Hubby bought last year as a gift. Wish I had a picture of bread board he made himself before Katrina (it was lost in the storm flooding). Mom, (the interior designer) has a round one about 1 inch- 1 1/2 inches thick with bark still on. You would have to find a boutique store in a sizable city or town to handle your work, but now would be a good time, even on consignment, just before christmas, also we have bread bowls will try to send pics of those tonight as well. Look like a dougout canoe, only much smaller. Real antiques were used to let dough rise in.

ETA: Hubby used draw knife on the bread board I lost. Glad others know what that is! LOL Think I have a copy of varanda mag with mom's work in an article that has similar piece on table, will have to look. Make one or two styles and head to the city, if you find a taker, go home and get to work! Good luck!! You have the wood.
Bed is beautiful! :love
