Seems to be a lot of discussion over these white birds! I am going to hatch some as I sell a few of my quail. Thing is, I for certain do not want to mislead anyone about what they are that would be bad business! So I will need to figure out what I have or just advertise them as "White" quail. The person who gave them to me called them white coturnix?
Coturnix is the breed. Everything else is just a color variation.
Some have been given specialized names (a&m, meatmaker) as they gave been bred to meet a certain criteria for color, weight, etc.
But rosetta, pharoah, tuxedo, Italian, golden. Are all coturnix just different colors. So if you advertised white coturnix all would be good.
I know crossing rosetta to a&m will get you tuxedos. Best cross I had for body size and weight was meatmakers to italians.
The cross of whites to jumbos would probably yield a white base bird with brown patches and highlights.
