I haven't been this excited in some time! We are waiting for our first egg. Born April 21st 2010 and all have bright red wattles. I put oyster shells out today but they didn't exactly go crazy over them. I'm hoping for "Any Time Now"!

mine still not laying , but conflicting information been given , i person says try a bit of poultry tonic in the water , another says its too late this year

and they won't start till spring , due to lack of daylight hours

. can anyone give any other advice . the chooks are out from approx 7.00 am till they make their way to bed approx 7-7.30 evening ??

Chicksuk, how old are your birds? Mine just started laying last week so I don't think it's too late, unless they have started moulting. Bear in mind, I'm new to this as well.

I have a question. I now have had 7 eggs in 4 days. This has got to be at least 2 if not 3 girls wouldn't you think? This afternoon's egg (someone likes to lay at around 2pm) was slightly different, so I am thinking girl #3 is laying as well.

New layers dont lay every day do they?? I have 5 that are ready.

we think they are about 19 to 20 weeks old , but we had themsince about 04/08, so would like them to start b4 it gets too late in year...

I have four 20 week old hens and am getting an egg every other day or so. One day I had 2 eggs!!!!

It is a lot of fun. I'm always so delighted when there is one!!
