Here is a pic of my New Hampshire, Martha Washington. She is around 5 months old is very red faced and does the squatting thing when I go to pet her. She is sort of vocal and very large as far as I am concerened. She has been this way for weeks. I am ready for eggs!!! Why won't she lay? I bet it is because she knows it is driving me crazy.

Woohoo! my 17.5 week pullets are all getting really red and floppy and today one of my RIR's did an egg squat for me! Having never actually seen one before, took me a second to realize what she was doing. Yay! Soon I hope!

My chickens are about 23 weeks old and I got an egg yesterday and one egg today.

Yippeeee! First egg today! I think it was actually one of my smallest and youngest gals, she's a banty cochin frizzle. I think it was her because she was singing away and then disappeared into the coop. After she had been in there a bit she came out and my hubby went in. He found a perfect little egg! I guess it could have been from someone else earlier, as we had not checked in, but I do think it was Frizzle von Bizzle!
So, still waiting for my 2 SLW, 2 black sex link, 2 giant blue cochin, 1 polish, 1 australorp to get busy. They all look more mature than my little frizzle!

I'm with you. Mine are 14 weeks today. Seems like it HAS to have been at least 3 weeks since last Monday when they were 13 weeks! I am not a patient waiter!

Hey, what am I thinking???!!! At the time I made the previous post my girls, and dudes, were 14 and 18 weeks old. That puts me about 3 weeks closer than I thought!! We added an additional 6ft x 18 ft to the run today, with a gate between it and the original 10ft x10' run. As soon as we get the wire and shade tarp over it they'll really be able to spread out. I have decided to play it cool and not be so obvious about watching them like "hawks", no pun intended.
