Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

My oldest are 21 weeks today (the other groups are 18 weeks and 15 weeks) and still nothing. My SLW squatted for me yesterday and disappears by herself into the coop so it's at least encouraging. All five of the older girls look as though they're ready. The BAs have had red faces and big wide backsides for weeks now. I know the waiting will end eventually and in the months to come I'll have more eggs than I'll know what to do with but that first one.....it's agonizing.

My suggestions for vtara 16: Go to the store and buy eggs. Get several dozen. Your chickens will probably start laying that very day!

I keep hoping I'm on my last dozen eggs from the store. I've got about 8 left, and the hens are only 16 weeks, so I need to use them sparingly.

Buffy is making all kinds of noise this morning, going up to the coop and pacing, but then all the others follow her. A girl can't get any peace! I haven't seen her go into the nest box yet.

Okay, now Buffy is in the nest box, kicking things around. She kicked a golf ball all the way out. She's talking to herself, and the other three are all very interested in what she is doing.

Go out there, you know you want too. I went out when one of mine was laying their first, and "comforted her". She fell asleep, it was too cute!
