Who has purchased eggs from ebay ? and what was your hatch rate ?

I candled everything tonight and it may be too early to tell for sure on the true Ameraucana eggs, but I think I have a lot of death rings. A few don't have any signs of development, and some have very promising signs of development! I hope me putting the guinea eggs in there to hatch didn't somehow kill some of them. I wouldn't think it would, especially because I don't *think* the temperature has changed enough for that.
Probably just the fact that these are shipped eggs.
So I'll candle again in a few days and have a better idea of what's growing. :)

My BCM egg outside... I found it on the edge of the nesting box in the corner, unnoticed by my broody silkie. It somehow got pushed there in the past hour. I quickly candled it (couldn't tell if it was alive or not) and put it back under her. I candled the rest and still am not sure so I put one that looked shadowy under the silkie with the possibly now dead egg and the rest (3) under my other broody.
I removed my turkey hen and put her outside in a different coop we're building and am hoping a night out away from everyone will snap her out of her broodiness. I'll see tomorrow, maybe.

I'm feeling a bit discouraged about my BCM egg, but I had 3 guinea keets hatch today with 2 more to hatch tonight or tomorrow so that has eased the discouragement.
The guinea eggs were not shipped eggs. They were eggs from a friend that they carefully drove to my house three weekends ago. One was not viable, all the rest have developed wonderfully. It's amazing the difference when the eggs are spared the stress of shipping.

I will wait! I am glad there is still hope for the eggs that don't look like anything is happening in them.
I just recandled because I was having second thoughts and it looks like I have for sure about 9 rings of death, and 3 that are possibly death rings. 3 that I am fairly sure are developing. 3 that nothing has happened in. So far! I had thought the air cells were looking good in these eggs but now when I candle I notice just how many are completely detached and sometimes in two or three bubbles. Amazing. Hard to tell when the cells are so small in the beginning.
So now I'm thinking it would be realistic to expect getting maybe just one chick out of this batch. That's one expensive chicken!

Yah, I feel bad for Georg. :( He's building up a bunch of good luck, though! Surely this next hatch will be at least 80% for him. :)

I thought my cells were ok too starling. Just goes to show hey.

I thought you were a boy too lol.

Lockdown is so close. 4 days away for me. I hope you get at least one chick georg.

Lol, sorry! :) I made the mistake of assuming. :)

Good luck on lockdown everyone! I really hope something hatched for both of you. :)
I'm waiting on those last two guinea keets still. They pipped overnight but haven't gotten up from their nap to zip yet. :)

thanks for clarifing georg! i hope your chicks make it. I started with 14 shipped eggs, 2 were infertile and 4 quit, the ones in the hatcher now, 3 are trying...2 are zipped and one was rocking. that one was had a detached air sac... I wish I was there to help it if it needs be...hopefully it will be ok til i get home at 4:30. but then I am only there for about 15 minutes cause 2 of the kids have ball games tonight. AHHH!!

one more thing I would do different.. i would try to have the hatch on a weekend! and not put the bator by my bedroom door!

Well I had a great eBay seller who packed great...all arrived great: small air cells and none rolling. She was the nicest helpful person too! These were shipped half way across the country and ALL are developing with 6 days left! :) I've never had such good luck with eBay eggs. I'm guessing it's due to good packing, fresh eggs, and good well fed parent stock. They are a variety of bantam Cochins. Some do have saddled air cells now that they're older, so I'll just have to watch those and hope they hatch ok. If anyone wants bantam Cochins, her name is Roslyn from Danville AK.
