Who has the oldest chicken?

I just lost my Cochin bantam frizzle hen Ebby she turned 10 this past spring and I have a light Brahma hen named Lizzie she is 9 yrs old we have a rest home for retired egg layers .

My friend has lost her 3 house chickens in very close order. She had 5 yr. old Seramas and a silkie. From the sound of what she told me, I'm guessing it was Mareks. They could no longer stand, and she had to hand feed them. I've heard serama & silkies have no resistance to most diseases.

She's planning on getting a frizzle cochin next. Hope history won't repeat itself.

I have a house chicken too! What cage does she use? I’d love to know

I have three hens that are 10 and a half years old. The next oldest is 9 years old.

My oldest was 9. She might still be alive, I don't know... I gave her back to her first owner.

I'd say my oldests are 12 or 13. A Barred Plymouth Rock and a Cuckoo Marans. Their names are Speckles and Scruffy, and for whatever reason Scruffy has grown sickle feathers in her old age. They haven't layed in years, but I have a 'no killing of old' hens policy.

Just wondering, who thinks they have the oldest chicken on this website or knows of an old hen. I just wanted to get a perspective of how old well taken pet chickens can live.

I have a Barred Rock, Tabby that is the last of my original flock 8 years ago.

What's an average life span? I had read someplace 15 years. I guess that was one of the very bad info sites?

Half that if not less. Chickens are prone to MANY health problems and the oldest chicken to live was 16 I believe. Most of us here will say that our hens lived up to 6-7 years. However some can say more
