For those of you are hatching marans, do you mind sharing what your humidity is. Mine are a day late and the woman I got them from said sometimes thats okay, but I am concerned. I have been very careful with my temps and humidity but I am wondering what is going on.

the simple life, I had 17 Maran eggs and hatched 12 - my humidity stayed at around 40 to 50% - I have a sportsman cabinet incubator and it keeps the temp dead on 99.5. to 100.0 degree's. They started hatching at 3 am yesterday and were all out and dry by 6 pm. Mine were due to hatch the 28th - not a pip - but at 3 am on the 29th - they started.

Good luck! Here is pic of all 12 - plus two OEGB blue splash, and several black cochins....the large greyish one is thought to be a roo.

I can't remember if I pm'd you my humidity. I ran my hovabator dry after the first week of struggling to keep the humidity below 60%. So on day 7 I went dry. It stayed around 37-44% for the next 11 days. I added almost no water. Temps were very constant around 99.5 give or take a few tenths. On day 18, I removed the turner, add a sponge which was 1/3 dipped in water and the humidity rose to about 65% give or take a few degrees.

My first BC hatched on Day 19. Most of my Cuckoos hatched on Day 20. Day 21 starts for us this afternoon at 1 pm. I have 3 BCs pipped and working and 2 more Cuckoos.

I am struggling to keep the humidity down now. It is up to 80% and one of the BCs was frothing bubbles during its pip which scared me and I intervened by helping to open the hole enough so it didn't drown.

Boy every situation is different depending on your egg source, bator, humidity and even the instruments you use.

I hope this helps. I am hoping yours are just late for the party and things start cooking for you soon.

Here's my two newest additions... the first official hatch from my new breeding program. This brings my Millies up to 5 (I don't think the third egg is going to hatch).
