Ive been hunting since i was nine years old. Still havent been able to get one with my compound bow yet, darn deer wont ever come close enough. Turkey hunting has got to be my favorite, talking to the birds.....wow its exhilarating. My dream has always been to kill a moose, elk comes second to that.

Oh, chickenranchwife, or all you other hunters out there, not to criticize or insult you, but when u shoot a deer or elk or whatever and take pictures, be sure to stick the tounge back in the mouth......makes the pictures look a lot better. Then you wont have those crazy people yelling at you for killing animals because its "cruel".

I haven't hunted in twenty years. Just don't enjoy killing I guess....I was successful a couple of times and laid in bed thinking about it nights.

Just a big baby I spose.

I do however par take in the butchering. My son has taken over ownership of my rifle ( 270) and is pretty handy with it. We have venison in the freezer every year.

To tie the chickens into this.....they sure enjoy picking the bones clean.....

I toss the bones out on the edge of the field for the crows to pick at and the chickens are right in there.....lol, scavengers!

Wonder if the eggs will have a venison taste to them?

I could only shoot 1 per family. Hopefully next year I can do it again. If not I will make a road trip.

I cooked up a roast yesterday, and guys it was awesome. It didn't taste much different than Beef..

I don't hunt, never did. My Dad nor my uncles ever hunted, so I was never exposed to it. I am in favor of hunting, since under-hunting caused by environmental extremists have created these large nuisance herds that end up destroying crops and landscaping, or just simply starve. I have 3 1/2 acres with lots of Whitetail traffic on it, and have had a few buds ask to bowhunt on it. I always say sure, come on over, but no one does. I'd love some fresh venison. There is an 8 pointer that crosses the road from my property every night. Anyone want to come and get him?

He must be beautiful Galaxie, I never see the bucks only the does. One day about 20 years ago I was almost home, and lo and behold the most handsome buck I have ever seen in my life just walked out of the woods in from of me. Of course I stopped, he stopped, we looked at each other and he continued on very slowly without a care in the world. He got to the other side, went into the woods and stopped and just watched me. He was stunning and I have never forgot him. As I said, I see does often but never the elusive bucks.
