Why are people so weird?

Ohmygoodness Banty! I have to eat mine soft scrambled—barely set and very moist—or they’re just icky. I really dislike if I get them browned at all.

:highfive: This is why I dislike scrambled eggs from most restaurants... they absolutely hammer them, then they're all rubbery and dry. And I like smaller curds as well, so I stir a lot when scrambling. As soon as they're starting to set I pull them off heat, stir a few more times, and plate.

Browned eggs are the only tolerable eggs. (I think this is what we call a symbiotic ecosystem. Between us, no egg dish will go to waste, eh.)

Boiled eggs were invented by a sadist! The smell alone horrifies me. A perfectly good egg, ruined.

:lau:lau:lau I love them in egg salad made with homemade mayo (made with fresh eggs of course!)

No, I don’t pasteurize them first...

I love big fluffy, soft curds—But small fluffy soft is fine, too. :)

I bet you can come up with some hard luck story about the price of feed or whatever that has made it impossible for you to give eggs away...
That's no joke. A general rule of thumb is that you feed your chicken 1/4 pound of feed daily and it takes your hen 26 hours to produce one egg. Rough average of 12 to 13 eggs over a two week period of time (per hen). Point is, that dozen eggs cost you 3 pounds of feed, whatever you use as ground cover (litter), vitamins, minerals, supplements, medications, and time spent tending to the daily needs of your flock. A five pound bag of the feed of YOUR choice, or cash on the barrel head ought to get the point across to the next freeloader that wants a dozen eggs and your egg carton.

I sell Marans eggs lol. My hens sit on cleanest hay and eat good. I wash them even though they are spotless most times. I ask for $5 for a dozen of some pretty eggs. We take great care to make them safe for our people. I would like $5. a dozen and $3.00 a dozen to my family. I thank you for your support for my extra effort to protect you. Then just smile! Stand up for yourself sister and make them take your little business seriously. And why do you allow them to treat you this way? Well, you let them. I feed mine to all of my animals. Thats a return in a healthy bird. Eat them. I get sick of looking at them lol and hide them in fridge. Like taste testing then someone saying “hey you want an egg? I actually forget to eat them!

Thats what I tell anyone that is haggle raping me. Sorry could not think of another description. Stand up for your efforts sister and forge on lol!

Why do people you know (friends/family) expect their eggs for FREE??

Maybe I'm the only one with the problem, but I've had several people (people who I do work business with, siblings) just want eggs for free. Don't even offer me any money. My fault for allowing it a couple times. I don't anymore - but WHY??

I had somebody just hand me a carton this morning wanting eggs. She didn't give me any $$, maybe (hopefully) she will have some when she comes back to get them.

Also, I ask clients to return my cartons, I even have a stamp inside that says "Please return carton", have I gotten any back? Nope. I have a family who buys 3 dozen a week and has 6 of my empty egg cartons. Next time she wants some, I will be reminding her I need those cartons back. Never would've thought I'd have any issues!

Okay, rant over :)

I used to have the same problem. People would say "Oh i'll pay tomorrow, i don't have any cash on me..." and then never pay me. I started having folks place their orders via Venmo - so they'd send me money through the app with a note that they want some eggs. Having them prepay has been so much easier than having to track down cash... I get so frustrated though!

I once needed egg cartons as my supply was dwindled. I put up little signs at my grocery store and post office. You know the little tack boards some business offer.
Anway, i had so many calls that i was soon set for egg cartons years in the future. Some people save them apparently with no plan to use them. Other folks save them for recycling.
Also....i would explain to the freeloaders that "with my obligations to my paying egg customers and with the cost of feed, that i can no longer offer them for free"
