Why does the hen do this?

When she walks around with her chicks, she occasionally might step on one of them or something like that. They scream loudly, and im worried that something bad would happen to the chicks.
Is this sepposed to happen? Does it hurt them?

They are just accidentally getting under her feet, it doesn't really hurt them, chickies make a lot of loud noises when they are startled. They will learn!
