Why in the world am I so bad at flirting? (Tomboy thread!)

Redhen,

I'm actually already a member of some groups that you mentioned. I'm an EMT with our local volunteer squad, but I think I'm actually the only one who is my age. There are a few others younger people who are members, but they are either two or three years younger (Which is a huge difference at this point) or a bit older. I'm going to try and get a job as a paid EMT over the summer and holidays, so there may be a possibility of meeting other EMTs my age.

I am still involved in 4-H as my mom's assistant leader, but I don't think our county offers an adult program. I wish they did! I would be all over that.

I did just join an offroading club that just started up at my college. I've only been to one meeting, but there might be a few like minded guys there to get friendly with. I honestly do like being friends with a guy first. Then I get to know him before jumping into anything. I'm also a member of our equestrian club, but there's just not a lot of guys in New Jersey who ride horses. I wish there were more! I'd love to meet a guy who also enjoyed riding horses.

I'm not sure if there are any diabetic groups around me. That is something worth looking into for the summer. My biggest problem is I'm always so busy with classes and work! I do go to the gym and work out sometimes, but lately I've been so tired to go. Definitely a lot of guys there, but they are usually so into lifting! LOL Its kind of funny to watch them though.

Good suggestions though. The photography one is also a good suggestion. I wonder if there is something like that for youth in my area.

I'm such a flirt its a SIN, I flirt when I don't even find the guy very attractive, he just has to have testosterone.............. there is just something about MALE that gets me all in a knot.

Dang I need help!

Those are wise words from a young woman. Being in a relationship will not make you happy, you do have to be content just being you first. That is exactly the conclusion I came to, after years of self-pity. As soon as I was content in my singlehood, that's when I met my husband. I don't think it was a cowinkydink.

Where has this thread been all my life??? I was/am a shy tomboy, could have used this the last 15 years or so! Don't have any good tips for you, other than smile a lot and be sincere.

Hey Lauren!

Im in the same boat. My family grills me every Thanksgiving and Christmas about having a girlfriend, and I never do. I've even been accused of lying and hiding a girlfriend before! Explain to me why the heck I'd hide one, LOL. But Im in no rush at all. Im young and really busy with school right now, but my family just doesnt seem to understand. I wish you the best of luck though. You're a beautiful, sweet, insanely smart girl. There is a perfect man out there just waiting to fall head over heels for you.

Its just so much fun!

Chicker - once you get the hang of it, you'll have a blast, if not then its just not your thing.

Just a look, a little smile and you're off!

Just remember... tomboys are always more fun!! My when my fiance asked me out on our first date, he asked me what I wanted to do... this was our first date: Pick me up... go to his house... hop on the four-wheelers... take them out... get stuck in mud... get unstuck (after coating us both in mud)... he showers and I wipe up... go home... change... go out to eat... come back to my house... go out fishing!! We've been inseperable every since. Very little flirting actually involved. So much fun!

Also, the best tomboys IMO are the ones who can come in from a day of hunting and go out dancing that night...

You guys crack me up!

Duckboat princess, that sounds like my kinda date! I love doing outside things, but I enjoy getting a little fancy every now and then too!

Jordan,

Thanks!

I wish my family (Not really my immediate family, but all the aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc) weren't so focused on whether or not you have a boyfriend/girlfriend. Sometimes they just ask me questions about my brother and his girlfriend and I just don't want to answer them. Society puts so much pressure on dating at a young age!
