Why Orpingtons?

BOY!

I guess this is a train that just won't stop! Maybe we should start an Orpington page.
I too just love my Buff Orps! I hatched out 11 and got extremeley lucky with 3 boys and 8 girls! They are playing in the pen and coop right now. Sweet little fluffybutts!!! While the rest of the flock of EE's Barred rocks, A few unkown bantams and others freerange in the yard! Oh yeah,, and a duck that thinks he's a chicken!
These girls run circles around the rest of them in their sweet dispositions and appearance!
They're the easiest to catch! ( I keep them separated in a large cage/brooder at night until they are large enough to find their place in the coop)
I sit at the door of the brooder and they love jumping on my lap and taking a nap there. 3 or 4 will sit there and go sleepies! I guess a warm soft lap must be more comfy. ...Yes Yes I spend alot of time sitting with my chickens!..ALL OF THEM!!!

I am looking at some White Orp eggs right now. There is a lady who sells them on Ebay. But she onlys sells 6 at a time. I want at least 18.

<<Oh yeah,, and a duck that thinks he's a chicken!>>

Hahahahahaha. I just put my lone duck in with some baby chickens, and he's definitely beginning to think he is a chicken too!! I was kinda getting trampled by the bigger chicks, so I tried taking him out, but he peeped non-stop till I put him back in. Now he's getting along fine with them in there, was cute this morning, one lone duck all cuddled up with 20 chicks.

Here is my lavender boy, Lester. He has 6 babies so far and more due to hatch today.

wow, Jody, I just don't know any words to describe what I feel when I see the different colors, just amazing and gorgeous from all of you.
Bama, thanks for the info.

I have four Buff Orps, and sometimes I get a hankering for more variety, but then I see them in a flash of sunshine and they just glow gold! Their colors can be so gorgeous, and vary in different lights.

Also, whenever a non-chicken person comes over to see them, they are always taken aback by how pretty they are. They say "well, I don't know what I expected when I agreed to come see your chickens, but I certainly didn't expect such pretty birds".

Edited to add pic of young pullet:
