Wild or dumped ducks?

I have the same issue in the creek in front of my home….. 6 pure white ducks hanging around. They have grouped-up with 3 wild ones. I’ve been asked if I thought those ducks were dumped. I believe that to be the case. On the other hand, possibly they wandered off, following the wild ones. It’s sad really, since they don’t have the wild instincts that their new wild friends have.

It is sad... People just don't realise.
The saddest part of this to me is that she lost her friend, and is now bonding with another duck, who I'll have to take her from 😣 It wont be long before she has my ducks for company, or joins a new flock where she'll be safe, but I still feel so bad for the poor duck.

I’m praying that the rescue goes smoothly. That little duck doesn’t know how lucky she is to be looked after by you…. and you’ll be able to address any injury right away. I’ll be watching your updates. Good Wishes!

I think once you get home home safe she’ll settle in. And once she hears and sees your ducks that will help her settle in even better. If you have poultry vitamins you can add some to her water. Your a hero for rescuing drakes can be really rough on females and from what I’ve heard many female ducks are drowned by so many drakes trying to mate at one time. Bad enough wild ducks have to cope with this but domesticated sure doesn’t need to.

I wish the other one did not get picked off they looked so happy together at least from what i could see from the photos. And I have two Pekin ducks myself and to think that some people can be soo irresponsible and that the general public is so poorly educated with the welfare and care of most animals makes me soo upset...
And best of luck with the rescue.

me too, I felt really angry after learning that one had gone. Just horrible... I wish I'd made the realization sooner...
They really were happy together too, they stayed together, slept right beside eachother, if one went in the water, the other followed. Every picture I've found is of them together. They seemed so inseparable. Now she just follows one of the wild drakes about. 😥
