I just started doing some macro last year and it's pretty neat. I don't have any macro lenses but I picked up some extension tubes which let regular lenses focus much closer. Also they're relatively cheap when compared to buying a dedicated macro lens, so that was a plus.

Depending on which camera and lens you have you may be able to pick up some extension tubes and take macro shots with your current equipment. I use an inexpensive 50mm f1.8 lens with the extension tubes for most of my macro shots.

Here's a couple pics from my backyard. They don't do justice in showing the actual size of the spiders . They were tiny.....

Do you know what type it is? Maybe a Merlin?
I find the small hawks very hard to id, but you get such great pictures.
Just talked to my hawk guru and he said it was an immature red shouldered hawk....
