EE's are created in many different ways-when they hatch-all straight combed ones will produce brown eggers-all pea combs-colored eggs. There is less than a 3% chance of getting a colored egg laid from a hen with a straight comb-but it does happen...
Your comment surprised me. I have two EE's with straight (single) combs; one lays a blue egg and the other green. I also have three EEs with pea combs that lay brown eggs, one light brown w/darker brown speckles, one dark brown, and one light brown with pink speckles.
