Will my EE's lay blue eggs? pics

Quote:
the first one has a regular single comb and no beard
the other 2 ones comb is single but kind of thick and one has the pea comb

The first one you will get a brown egg from-the other two -colored eggs--They have pea combs-one just has a bigger raised one...

EE's are created in many different ways-when they hatch-all straight combed ones will produce brown eggers-all pea combs-colored eggs. There is less than a 3% chance of getting a colored egg laid from a hen with a straight comb-but it does happen...

Your comment surprised me. I have two EE's with straight (single) combs; one lays a blue egg and the other green. I also have three EEs with pea combs that lay brown eggs, one light brown w/darker brown speckles, one dark brown, and one light brown with pink speckles.

Depends on the cross that made up your birds, you can get/have Blue egg laying hens with single comb. A good xample of this would be a Cream Legbar.

Blue X Blue = Blue
Blue X White (eg, Leghorn) = Blue
Blue X Brown (eg, R.I. Red) = Green
Blue X Dark Brown (eg, Maran) = Olive Brown

I dont know, but I sure hope you get your pretty colored eggs! I have one EE that I was hoping would lay blue or at least green or olive. she has the pea comb, clate legs, cute little beard... an dI caught her laying a very light brown almost pink egg the other day. DARN IT! I guess that means I need to buy more chickens

Sorry, I should have given examples..Chris did a beautiful job! I wasn't saying it couldn't happen ..it does as I had a pea combed girl lay beautiful brown eggs...it shouldn't happen though:) I d love to see photos of your girls??

I've got the anomalies, go figure! I'm hoping that my EE pullets, all nearing POL, all with pea combs, will lay blue or green.

I'll run through my pictures and see if I can find a few pictures of the hens I mentioned and get them posted for you.

EEs are kind of egg-roulette when it comes to guessing their color ahead of time.

You are more likely to get green or blue eggs out of your bird with the pea-comb (the genes for pea-comb reside very close to the blue egg gene, so they are commonly inherited together).

When referring to colored/ tinted egg layers this is true to a point, but there far more breeds that have a pea comb that don't lay blue eggs than there are blue egg layers that have a pea comb.
