I don't have any plans on getting any orps from BBP, even though I would absolutely love some someday. I was just joking around. I know, I know,

If I do find some, Raiq, I'll get some for you too.

For sure I can stop by your house sometime. Maybe I'll bring the 2 pullets I'm getting rid of. I thinkk I'm going to keep my older black orpington ladies for now. You probably got the nicest one as far as personality and type.

And I don't have any lavender pullets to get rid of right now. I will have hatching eggs and straight run chicks in the spring. I will also be selling eggs from my isabel and porcelain orpington project pen. My rooster is getting huge. We named him moose. Hopefully I will also have lemon blue bantam cochin chicks to sell in the spring. I always have big breeding plans and then over winter I end up losing birds to predators or fire or whatever terrible thing.

Jim I was thinking along those lines too was gonna ask if it the DEA was selling it.

Hello all,

Having real slow connectio up here today for some reason.

Ok, here's the scoop on the Ameraucanas from Jim. There are 6 total and three people want them !!! Me being one of them. So that would be two each !!

Ok now here is the dilema. I'm not going to be bringing down the truck, DH just informed me he made plans for it this weekend. We had bought a shed from guy and it needs to be moved ASAP. Plus it is going to rain.

Ok, so I will have to fit all the chickens into my backseat of my car. Second dilema, I just did a mapquest and I see that it will be an extra 130 drive to deliver the chickens. btw TO I wasn't able to pull you up on mapquest, just pulled up Lake Mills. ????

So, that said, what do you all want to do? Oh plus the lady hasn't gotten back to me about the polish so looks like I won't be getting them before I leave !!!

Would anyone be willing to meet me closer to Milw? Or would you wanna wait til Dec? Cind, you are close enough to Racine I could meet you at I94 or so.

Don't wanna tick anybody off, hopefully we can find a solution here. ??????????

I think it was Laddick who bought my uncle's farm about 40 years ago near Whittlesey.. I drove there to see it around 1978. It is nothing but a huge sand pit then.. I can only imagine what it looks like today..

I think Laddick is from Medford.. ? the pit could very well be around the Eau Pleine.. there are lots of pits in the area..

Nice job on the aviary.. You might want to put some smaller hole wire along the bottom 2 feet high.. weasel protection..

I tried some of that pear butter on my all grain toast this morning.. I liked it, I really liked it.. it turned out to be a very small batch,, 3 tiny jelly glassfuls.. none of that will be given as gifts, you can bet on it..

DrH, at least there will not be any dust blowing around as you level those piles, eh?

Raiguee, your boys can still change their underwear,,the way my mom did it: DS#1 you change with DS#2, DS#3 you change with etc etc..

..........jiminwisc.........

Are you talking about the area where the wood is on the outside? The wire panels run all the way to the ground behind the wood trim at the bottom. I didn't take a picture from the inside to show the complete panel- do you think there should be extra wire? Let me know if you want to see a picture from the inside- our goal is to make this avairy as safe from critters as possible.

From sweating to freezing....Oh Wisconsin how I love thy.....Saw chicks listed on CL said "Banties"....Does that mean bantams or something else??? They are a week old my eight are 7 weeks....So if I go get them that will mean chicks in the house again:D....But with winter would I have trouble introducing them to the others before real cold sets in??? And then I say to myself "self I say wait til spring"....But the evil twin keeps trying to figure out a way to make it work!!! BEACH!!!!

Congrats BBP! Is it the one past Dick's grocery? If so Ill have to stop and see you

Oh a little funny to share. My mom is blonde and my dad is polish, I did something dingy and my mom asked me what I was thinking when I did it, I told her it wasnt my fault they should never had children because we didnt have a chance. She laughed.

I dont remember who it was but theysaid her kids were good and someone said something to her about it. I always try and tell people that their kids are well behaved or very polite, it isnt something we see alot of now days.

Ok better get moving and get the dishes done. I hope everyone has a wonderful night!

Ahhhhh..... chicken math strikes again!
Yes, Jodie, banties are Bantams. You wouldn't have any more problems introducing chicks in winter as in any other times of the year, I wouldn't think, as long as you waited until the chicks were about as large as the older ones when you introduce them. Maybe the pecking order will help keep them warm in winter?

Good luck in any case.
