Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I was planning on Neilsville, but Annie has to work Fri night and she won't get home before 10AM Sat.. or is Neilsville on Sunday? I thought it was the same day as Stratford auction..

FT. not a good idea to bury that deep tank.. the geese will splash a lot of water out and then they or the ducks will not be able to climb out.. or a horse could fall in.. or a pig.. or you.. just saying..

Humm... my first thought was to bury the tank too... but Jim has some good points. Plus it would be harder to empty and clean. How about making some steps in and out? For outside you could use almost anything. Inside how about patio blocks and bricks or cement blocks, that way you could take them out when you need to.

We did have patio blocks inside and a board on the outside. A very narrow board with wood strips on for grip. It was probably to narrow and to steep for the ducks. Heck I don't know if Runner ducks even like to swim. When we first put the tank in last year we put the ducks in. They swam around and seemed to enjoy it but then when we took them out they could hardly walk.

I've got tons of bricks that I can put inside and build up along the edges so they can get out. I can build up with either bricks or rocks or both on the outside and top that with dirt/sand so they can walk up to it.
Either way I need to move it.
Oh boy, I'm knodding off. I got up for a potty break, time for bed again !!!

WCC, CC, TO

I only want the Pullet chicks out of the Lavender Orps !!

Oh OH----another puppy? LOL! Just think--you each could have your own!

Frenchie--if you really want to get some of those eggs I am sure I can figure out who s/he is and get some eggs for you and then bring them to the bash. I can see if there will still be some available by then...it's not too far off! Let me know!

Guess what? DH ordered my new computer today! Yup, he found a great deal at Dell and got a better one than the one I had for $367 including shipping! My first laptop many years ago was $1200!!! I sure am glad they have come down significantly in price...we have a LOT less money coming in now than we did then! I am excited to get my new one...then I can reset everything up like I like it to be!

Sorry about your unhatchables...but sometimes Mother Nature does know best...even though it is very hard....I took the turner out for my First Foolish Hatch batch...All the eggs seem OK..heavy like they are at this stage (how does that work anyhow?) I got them all back in without breaking any :) I am a bit worried about this one though because of the incubator not wanting to stay at 99! When I moved out the turner it was at 97 AGAIN! I am too scared to turn it up any more--I have already increased it by a half turn from the last incubation!

CC--that pink bush is a double almond. I didnt know what it was for many years after we first moved here. Then I found out how to revitalize it and this is the 4th year of that...I have nearly all new branches on it now...it is looking really nice! I am working on our 75+ year old lilac bushes too...it is slower going it seems with them.

There was something I was going to say to NJ too...but his post was first and I cant remember what I wanted to say...oh well...I need to get out and lock up...oh yeah, when I locked in the tortoises Tina had laid an egg in their house! Looks like I might have some Tommy/Tina babies in my next Foolish Hatch!

Maybe I can go into the business of selling "House Chickens!"
Sweet dreams! Terri O

ETA: THe thing that NJ said about the egg facts...that is what we have o lour signs around town! Isnt that cool that our eggs are so healthy!? Everyone that has eggs llike this needs to start to promote them as such...maybe we can close down those NASTY egg factories! Well, except for the Cadbury one! LOL!
LOL, no not looking for that many dogs! Our house guest(friends dog that they are fostering) isn't working out. So we are looking again but of course each has their own idea of what we should adopt. Of course we have rain here currently and the guest dog has storm anxiety so she woke me up....:/

Bury it but leave a foot above ground. surround it with rock and place rock on inside to make a ladder out of it..... my friends did this and added like a garden around it . was pleasant to sit at in the afternoon with drink

Well hi IamSamSam! Welcome to the awesomest thread on BYC! Your name gets shortened on here, so I have a feeling you will become ISS or Sam. How many chickies do you have?

good rainy morning everyone, hope all is well. suprisingly the dogs went for their walks without complaints, I was hoping they would turn around but they didn't seem to mind. Today i think I will call the chick guy late afternoon and set up a time. I need to read up on introducing the chicks when they are older to the flock. i have only gone to one animal swap near Appleton. Would like to go to the Neilsville one some day as well as the auction. Dangerous for me I always wanted minature donkeys, no way could have them here.

have a good day, stay dry

how are you going to clean the sub terranian tank? You do know that when a duck gets into water, the first thing it does is poop..

raining here a little.. surprised it isn't snow..

Dan, those puppies at that size are perfect for Muskie bait..The small fish leave them alone, so if you catch one, it'll be a big one..

kinda what I was thinking Jim,,,but no fish that big left in the area,,,on the other hand baby ducks might still work

woke up to an inch of freaking snow on the ground,,,sleet/drizzle/rain all day,,,trip to the feed store and then Menard's this afternoon. I locked down 28 eggs yesterday tossed one and should have tossed 2 more I'm thinkin,,,need to get something setup here in the basement as a brooder for the first week,,,then they go out in the shack. When I move the 18 out of there I will get it painted b4 these go in,,,also install a roost and maybe figure out a bigger feeder these little trays need refilling 3 times a day. Learning as I go here,,,

just read the new "deer czar" report,,,spent $150k to get a Texas expert to tell the DNR same thing hunters have been saying for years here,,,,duhhh,,,,must be a teabagger friend of Walker's bosses,,,oops shouldn't go there,,,sry

ok,,,,,time to eat and get started here
