Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

otonah: I somehow gave you the wrong impression...my cockerals I have posted on craigslist and I have someone interested....I was talking to you about a broody hen. Rather than trying to incubate eggs and raise chicks..I am suggesting you find someone who has an extra broody hen who will sit/hatch/raise chicks for you. And as someone else mentioned-there are a lot fo great people on hee who can get your fertile eggs.

angie, I am planning on spring chicks. So unless hens remain fertilized for 6 months I would need a roo this spring.

When you BUY your eggs next spring you place them under the broody hen and she will hatch and raise them rather than you renting and running an incubator.
You do not need a rooster for her to go broody and start setting.

Evening All...before I forget, belated happy anniversary. That OM of yours is a lucky guy..congrats with the wins too.

Long day today...left this mornin at 5.30 to run up north. Made it back at 1.30...talk about out of shape. Throw a heavy backpack on and a pail in each hand...then trape through the woods prolly 1/4 mile two different spots with same load...dang near killed me. I'll go back saturday and see what's up. And rebait again. Sure is wondeful to get way back in the woods. The gravel roads I use to get me into the Nationial forests are already miles from nowhere. Heaven for sure.

Chores got done late today...glad suzie was here to let the flocks out. They would of been crabby for sure.

Thanks for the great pics...you guys rock!

Evening all!
Just checking in and being the mediator for a rousing game of "Grabby Face between Fred and Aiden. Fred and Aiden have this game where the play grab the others facial parts. They complete the game with some rather odd noises. It's fun to watch but not be in the middle of. It usually ends when Aiden starts to wash Fred's ears.....

Ang-I have a St. Jude device. I'm pretty sure that's it. I only see my pace card when I move it from wallet to wallet. Or when I have to go to the pacemaker specialist once a year and they hook me up to the corresponding reader machine. So far it's been a good little pace maker. Ya know, keeping me alive and all....the only complaint I have is that if I do a lot of repedative (sp) arm movement like painting the pace maker gets really uncomfortable and it drives me nuts. I've had it for 8 years now so they keep close tabs on it since it's "aged". Lucky for me it works on a lower power setting so we have been able to keep the battery life going strong. Although they did have to bump the power up a little this year.
The only thing I had to add into my cardio regime this year is a daily to every other day 81 mg aspirin. More due to my replacement valve's "aged" status. I have trouble remembering to take it though. I even have post it note memo apps on my lap top...that I forget....lol

Well, that being all said....I should go take my aspirin!

Beautiful Pictures BTW.......... wish I could get a decent camera, only have a cheap 35mm, and my digital, if I took a good camera out hunting with me I could get some really cool pictures, have seen some awe inspiring things as the sun comes up on a cool frosty Oct/ Nov morning.............

Jim./....... Its ok I completely understand about time and getting things done, we can't wait to see it all together, and I wish I would have taken a pic. b4 and after, rats, anyway not complaining just disappointed is all, it was so nice and comfy at your place and you guys were so very nice to us, sure makes me wish you all lived closer. I know a lot of ppl but only a couple that are like us, most peeps these days are so caught up in there own fairy tales, it's hard to have a conversation with these kinds of ppl. No one is down to earth normal these days, especially ppl our age, its pretty sad when you think about it, I have more normal friends from this forum in a year than I have met in our community here in 12 years................. crazy huh......

Well Bugsy the boxer is showing improvement today he was starving for the first time in weeks, and seems I couldn't feed him enough, he had chicken noodle soup for breakfast and lunch, and some broth and scraps with his dog food for supper. I think the steroid shot did wonders to help lets hope it continues..... I know it won't be very long b4 I have to put down my old girl Tigger, and to loose 2 of my oldies in a short time would tear my heart out............
I have the grandson till Friday so we played outside this morning, then I canned 5 more qts of beans and 7 pints of tomatoes, I have some very nice canning tomatoes this year, I planted Pudems Purple Heirloom, and they are huge and meaty hardly any seeds and mush, great for canning, not sure how they will be for my sauce and juice, but will see when I get enough to start that, I have 18 plants that have basically taken over my garden, along with my melons and squash............ can hardly see the rows anymore its spread out every where. . Tomorrow I will be canning some cucumber Relish..... and checking for more beans.....LOL these are some awesum beans this year, they produce like crazy, I get a 5 gallon bucket full every couple days.......... well nite all, sleep well will see you in the AM............. Are you and sweet daughter and DGF coming to the mini bash at my house? If you are, clik the link in my signature and say so, for Pete sakes. Also think about a dish to pass. Honestly, of you can't come from Arena.....

You can see the Australian Dots if you come...

yeah we will most likely be there. I already put it on the calender awhile ago. I am always thinking about food, so I will just have to make a decision on what to make.

time to go back to lurking and taking care of my new quail. my friend bought 100 eggs they sent 125, had 105 survive. l also hatched a few eggs from the first ones TO sent me. The littles from the hatchery are twice the size of the ones from TO. House work the next two weekends and then time to build some more outdoor cages.

good night

You say that now. Oh Dave, you have no idea what you are in for. You are about to cross over to the dark side. But be brave. The rest of us all like it here.
