Missing summer already!

Dang rooster in the basement again...

One of the Icelandic roosters has been getting big ideas about being the head Roo. Babe is a bloody mess! I brought him in the basement and will clean him up really well tomorrow. He's so bloody it looks like big hunks of feathers were pulled of his head, or they are just all clumped weird from the blood. I can see his comb is bloody, but do they bleed like head wounds on humans? This is the third time he's been pretty banged up. I think I might have to take matters into my own hands. Gggrrrrrrrr I hate doing the deed. But I'm not letting my breeder roo get killed before I have a chance to hatch out birds this spring! Cost me way to much money to get those Marans from Bev! I need this roo to sell fertile hatching eggs for Pete's sake...

Doc I hope L is doing better!!!
Hope your roo recovers quickly. It can look pretty bad with all that blood. Marans are beautiful birds.

Hi All...

Hey BigFam.... don't you owe us a funny story?

TO... Know how you feel about the cleaning! Everyday I clean something... though I can't do much at once, I still do something. Most days it doesn't look like a thing was done! Sure gets frustrating don't it?
Jim... Hope your other chicks manage to stay away from the bully! ow do you make a root beer old fashion? Guess it turned out OK!

Nothing going on here.... Night All!

Good Morning All! Sorry to keep you on edge. Things are looking better today! L is starting to move!

Thank You all so much for your concerns!

She told me this morning that they were going to do some test at some time. I told she talks just like her mom. I want to be there when "some" results come back so that I don't have to depend on L's version. It was very scary when her BP dropped so low! Laura said I was her hero for getting her there quickly. So I did the whole "you must pay the rent" routine. Did a normally 45 minute drive 38 miles in 25 minutes. No cops or traffic. Think I passed 2 ambulances with their lights going.

Ya Jim that's a hard wallet to swallow with the oil. Hope you find your bully or maybe it was just a weak chick.

It's snowing lightly here, kinda pretty. So many dead birds! TO, CasieD. So sorry to hear that! Not fun. Yup it's TTT man he's naughty! Seems to enjoy it though.

BF4me hope your roo recovers! Sounds like dominate one is just that. CC yup that's some of the history don't worry there will be more!

sl5 that was just mean! It's not even Feb yet! Don't worry I've been eating and got 9 hours of badly needed sleep last night, feel like I could sleep some more, not about me though. Tere was so much more but my brain isn't working that great, not that it ever did. Gotta get the chickens their water and scratch plus clean the cat boxes. Man they poop a lot! Later!

Good morning! Back from 4 Christmas's in 4 days!!!! And guess what Santa brought me? Two cameras for the coop! Both day (Color) and night vision! With a monitor for inside-still trying to figure out if there is way to have live feed online.....can't wait to get it set up.

BF4U: When I was only 6 months into the chicken craze-I had three Roo's and someone tore one of the combs on one-OMG Had on my light chicken coat and it looked like I slaughtered a few chickens by the time i came inside. It bleed and bleed and couldnt figure out how one chicken could even have that much blood in them. I tried the quick stop, some other blood stopper etc-what finaly worked to stop the bleeding was good old cornstarch held on the comb until it clotted. WIsh you luck with our roo!

good morning,, first things first.. No I do not use root beer in my old fashion.. I make the old fashion in a root beer mug.. I use Sprite Zero ..

I let the dogs in around midnight,, but they went right back out before I could close the door.. they like it outside for sure.. I just let the puppy in, but Dora did not come in.. I think they are uncomfortable inside with their thick coats.. The pup has started using his dog bed, finally,, I bought it way last fall.. up until now, it was too "scary" to get onto it..

I wonder if these temps are going to moderate sometime this winter.. single digits are too cold for me..

seems like my brain to motor nerves has a ten second delay today.. more coffee should take care of that..
