Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Went out to lock up coop and one of my roos wattles looks like it was sliced...Not much I can do as there is a flap hanging and it appears to be more oozing than dripping blood. But any suggestions on anything I can do to keep it from catching in on things or from the others picking at it?

Its funny, the two boys are now about 1 year old...and have gotten alogn relatively well. Lately though the "2nd roo" who is bigger, is challening the "1st roo" when he mounts the hens by pecking or jumping him then running. Yet at night, they have suddely started roosting right next to each other.

The basic is:
for every gallon of water you need 1/2 cup kosher salt and 3/4 cup brown sugar.
For young chicken for frying I add the basic plus 1 cup buttermilk
for baking rosemary chicken I add 4 sprigs rosemary to the basic
For grilled chicken I add 1/4 cup vinegar to the basic

Cloudy Day Today To everyone...I prefer 160 degrees and allow the birds 15 seconds and then lift and dunk again for 10 seconds..I always add a couple drops of dish soap to the hot water. The hotter the water, the easier the skin is going to tear. We soak in cold Ice water 24 hours before bagging. Whatever works best, is the best way. I think jim uses 150 degree water?

Yep, never a line of folks fighting over the tractor or blower at Camp after a snowfall....imagine that! LOL

Nice pics everyone.

Next weekend is easter already. I'm one of the cooks for Easter Bfast at Church. That's a 4.30am start in the kitchen...I'll be taking a nap by noon next sunday.

Suzie made a big kettle of chili for supper and a fresh loaf of beer bread......delish!
I'm gonna have to wait for ice cream.

It was to cold for tree pruning today today...another woosie here.

How about that awesome race at the speedway today CC....Did you see TS pick that fight after the race for getting fairly blocked? Poor loser...and Junior back in the 20's with 15 laps to go and
finish 2nd....What a great comeback...he has the point lead by 12...

Yeah, I did. He is a poor loser. Probably wanted some of the attention Logano & Hamlin got the week before.

I was very impressed with Jr's crew getting that car as good as they did. In the beginning of the race, he was going backward. So happy to see him up front.

good morning, woke up early,, tried to go back to sleep for about an hour,, finally gave up and got up at 6:3oAM..

got a cuppa and am raring to go..

I used my time awake in bed constructively and came up with an idea to keep the hinges on the pen from rusting..
after I give it a try and it works I will post it for you all.. complete with instructions and pictures..

Zeke, I D K = I Don't Know.. and IDK what HTH means..
cuppa = cup of coffee

I use about a half cup of vinegar in 5 gal of water to keep the slime from forming,, and the chickens seem to drink more..

that humorous joke hit me right in the funny bone.
liked the sign of spring bird joke , too..
......jimreallyenjoyinghisfirstcuppa.............
