Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

"I don't have a wire cage, but spending the night In a plastic kennel...would that work?"

most likely not,,,,the purpose of the wire is so the bird cools off,,,that seems to work well for me,,,sometimes it takes a couple of days in a cage. While you are hitting rummage sales watch for one, old rabbit hutches work well (this comes from a guy with at least 7 broodies right now,,,my wire cages are getting a work out this summer)

Vet just called and said her fecal sample was loaded with COCCI!!! Kinda doing the happy dance as its treatable and not MEREKS!!!!!! Off to go treat her.
goodpost.gif
I'm happy for you too.

She is not looking good-am hoping the Corid kicks in quickly!!!! She was falling over on to her back. I sure hope I can catch this with her in time to save her-its not looking good but I feel relief at knowing at least what to do for her.....
I am treating all that are in with her right now.....not sure if I need to treat my flock or not....as they are completely seperate-other side of house...she is in our shop...I have washed hands, changed shoes and clothes between each group and made sure they werent out on the same lawn ever. And the other chicks I have out in my coop brooder are on medicated feed.....any suggestions? I could take away the medicated feed and treat them with Corid.
I am just so thankful its not Merek as there doesnt seem to be any hope with that or a way to prevent it from spreading. They say the incubation time is 7-28 days from exposure to Cocci..

Power bills, lost jobs, new jobs, and lack of money...

Have you ever "robbed peter to pay paul"???
Well I did that with our power bill, and now we have about 2 1/2 months to get it paid off.
Why did I do that??? To feed my flock and my horses.
And now something has to give. In this case, my flock and two of my beloved horses.

I know you have seen this from me before, but this time, I can't do this to myself again.

So with a HUGE amount of reluctance I am putting my Jaerhon flock up for sale, 22 adult birds, 10 are 1 yr olds from Ideal Hatchery, 4 bred from hatched eggs last yr so also a yr old.
and the rest are 2-3 yrs old but still laying. PLUS a bonus 8 pullets from Ideal that I got May 10th. 1 rooster, all the rest are hens, including a turken/jaerhon cross from TO.
I am asking the BYC price of $150, or free if in a few years I can get some pullets/roos and hatching eggs.

Also have a wonderful TINY blue/black silkie rooster with correct comb, carries the blue splash gene.

And 5 d'uccle that are Kristi's, a normal mille fleur, a blue mille hen, a b/w mottle hen, a b/w mottle with gold leakage hen, a porcelain roo, you can ask Kristi what she wants for them.

AND my heart breaker....
Preferred Free Lease current coggins for this year, but willing to sell.
12 yr old ASB cross mare, a very-extremely-seasoned trail horse, parades, dressage, costume parades and trail rides, barrels, gymkhana, jumping, started Renn faire/SCA games.
Has been ridden by a person when I have given some lessons. Intermediate or Advanced preffered, ridden english OR western in a snaffle OR hackamore.
Asking $700 OBO

@6-7 yr old registered half arab Grulla mare, not broke (was going to this year).

7 yr old grade Ky Mtn horse mare, very seasoned trail horse, parades, gymkhana, a follower NOT a lead type horse, has a few quirks, but nothing major, Great for a beginner who will simply follow the other horse. Free lease ONLY!!!

I got my broken tiller all fixed again, and have the garden all tilled.. I still have about a ton of rocks to pick up and then I am going to till it again,, and again if I have to, to get all the rocks out.. there is not much more irritating than hitting a rock while cultivating and having the tiller jump onto the row of veggies and ripping them out..

for those of you who joined after one of my disclaimers, here it goes again.. I do not use LOL < Rotfl, little yellow funny faces etc.. If you cannot tell that I am just ribbing you, then that is your problem.. Just how dirty are you going to let it get ? that was a ribbing.. If I was talking to you in person, I would have said it to your face.. I do not sugar coat my sentences.. I was in construction for over 40 years, and I just didn't have time to do that.. for instance, Please step to one side and let that board fall to the floor instead of onto your head,, takes too long,, WATCH OUT !! works much better..

BTW, if you are waiting for me to apologize, don't hold your breath.. I did nothing intentionally to tick you off.. and if I ever do,, then I still wouldn't apologize, because I would have meant it..

this is for everybody reading this.. not just one certain person.. (so don't flatter yourself).. that was a ribbing,,

Psych, just judging from what I have read ,, you do need to do some more research on incubating..

and while I am at it,, somebody needs to corral their horses..

Vet results for my birds I brought home from the camp out is stress cocci. Apparently chickens can have induced stress cocci not only from injuries and soil, but, from stress. There are 7 types of cocci. My vet has the birds on Corid.

Everyone that has birds from me from the camp out, please treat them with corid. Even if they do not show symptoms they might have it. The new chicks are too young to have it. However call your vet and make sure. Most new chicks have immunities for a few weeks from the mother. But please double check.

I apologize for the ill birds. I sure hope we have caught it on time. After one day of treatment my birds look and act normal. They are on the treatment for 5 more days.

please let all the birds be well.

Sorry for all you south of us, BUT, we have rain!!! :celebrate. Really did need a nice shower, which is what we got. It was getting a little dry up here. Definite prayers for all of you "southerners" and your critters. Please stay safe.

You are SO right..... I have decided my next vacation will be BY MYSELF! I would consider bringing the dogs only, since they cannot get annoyed.

BigZ, all said and done the gas bill came in at 1250.22...... a little more than what I would like, but we were avg about 8.5 MPG in the mountains. I think the camping and making all our own food cut the cost substantially. The only day we splurged for food was yesterday, we had icky McD's for breakfast and Little Caesars for dinner.

Cleaned out the RV today, it took about 5 hours to give it the microbiologist cleaning, then DH pulled out the power washer and we washed the entire outside of the RV. Glad that is done with! Now we need to find someplace to dump the tanks tomorrow morning and then we will be on our way to dropping it back off.

If I were to purchase our own RV, I would insist on it being diesel and I would like the sides to pull out so we would have a little more room on the inside.

DH made NY strip on the grill tonight. YUM! Had fresh schrooms and onions with it, along with some fresh green beans and smashed taters.

Cind, you will have to explain to the chowderheads (me) what you mean by free lease.......

BBP I would take your gelding if I had someplace to keep him!
