Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good afternoon! I am taking a break after working my new (gardening) job this morning for 3 hours. I pulled quack grass all that time! I have very tender fingers right now...especially the outsides of my pinky fingers. I had 2 dump carts totally full. THese people have a gorgeous home and TWO big JD mowers...one just to pull the dump cart! Man, if ours was that easy to run maybe I would mow the lawn. The man washes them every time they are used too. So now I am tired and resting just a bit and the kids want to GO! I told them we would go to the beach playground and they are excited. Maybe I can read my book while they play? (fat chance)

It was not the call ducks that died. It was 4 Muskovy babies. I did lose one of the calls last night though...it drowned in the water dish! Now they have a more shallow one for sure.
I moved the turkeys and other 2 calls out of the brooder and into a big cage until they are old enough to join the rest in the yard. Funny thing happened...the only female turkey I have heard those babies peeping and she came right over to see what was going on. It was quite comical to see.

OK--time for us to go to the beach! Later! TerriOwithchildrenwatchingimpatiently

I think the maggots had just hatched on the gosling. He seems to be better now. I sprayed the area with horse and stable spray, let that sit for about 15 minutes, gave him a salt water bath, then put betadine on it. The big bloody spot on his belly is now gone and you have to dig through down to find the navel. But I will be keeping a close eye on it.

BBP did Tammi stop by? I dropped the baby bird off with her (turns out it is a sparrow fledging) and she said she was going to go find you for some seed! LOL Weird pulling up to a Sherif car and handing over a bird!!! LOL

No, but I only worked till 2, so maybe she came after that. She's a sweet lady. She puts all her extra time and resources into caring for orphaned and injured wild animals. If had extra money to donate to a cause, it would be to her rescue and wellness center. She has a quaker in her house that never gets put in a cage because he is claustrophobic. I laughed so hard when she said that. I think that bird has her number.

I'm going to have to get rid of some chickens to make room for my goose. This thing is so sweet.

So proud! My baby boy, Daniel, graduated today from Air Force Security Forces(Military Police) Academy today. He is following in the footsteps of his father. He was a USAF SP Dog Handler. I was also in the Air Force but I did Electronics. Anyway, he'll be home soon on leave to visit us before he goes to his first duty station in Montana! The day they graduate is the first day they get to wear their berets so here is a picture of him after graduation in dress blues with beret and badge!

congrats to mama military cop..

I am a bachelor tonight,, someone did not show up for work, so they call the lady who can't say no.. she already has 68 hours in this week.. too much .. the woman who was supposed to come in did not call or anything.. she probably spaced it that tonight is her night.. dingbat ..

I did some detailed drawing and have my rafter layout all drawn up.. tomorrow I will lay out the pattern on the trailer and then cut the first set and see how it fits..

I have never seen a truss like this,, I sort of invented it.. if it works, you all will be so proud of me..

I just got an emergency call,, I have to go play cards.. they need a fifth player..

I sold my last two black chickens this afternoon.. I think I will cut down on my laying flock in July.

I might even sell all of the peacocks..

My this fall, I want to be like Noah.. only one pair of each..

I made Annie tie Dora outside for a few hours this afternoon.. Neither one of them liked that idea, but I figured a little sun and fresh air would do that pup some good..

we are dumping the vet we were using, and going to a different one in Marathon City on Monday.. 6 weeks and 2 mis diagnosed opinions are enough (too much).. the vet in M City is strictly small animals.. his secretary who answered the phone seemed to know more than the vet we had..

to those of you trying to buy hay.. I talked to a guy today who just sold his last 100 bales for $4.oo/bale.. It was marsh hay from last year.. cannot make hay from that marsh this year because it is too wet..

the guineas keep their same color and spots from birth to adultery ..

My cats are attacking me for popcorn! You would think that I dont feed them at all...crazy animals.

I thought that the little wild bird might be a sparrow. Looked like a couple we have bouncing around in the grass here...hard to tell without a face shot though. Glad you got him where he needed to be!
I still have only 1 gosling and NO muskovy babies! I have no idea what had happened this year...I usually am overloaded with ducklings by now! I think I will have some really sad buyers this fall...I have had many calls for them already!

OK--I think I will do a bit of "surfing" now...havent been on Pinterest lately...that is usually good for a few hours!

Goodnight! TerriOfeelingtoolazytogooutandworkinthegardenanymore

Fresh Fish Fry Friday To All... and people actually go out to eat....Sorry you guys couldn't be here to enjoy this feast we had tonight...it was super delish....it was fun to get the outside fish cooker going again...OMG the fresh fish was perfection.(I won't mention the cole slaw and dark rye bread)

In regards to the orchard trees...yep...really nice trees...I bought the semi-dwarf trees. They end up being prolly 5 to 5.5 feet tall after being planted...I bought delicious and Cortland...they have a really good choice of trees, and varietys. gotta love my spelling.

The buckeyes are growing fast now...it won't be long now til they are outside.

I always keep my waterers fresh and my feeders clean...the coop is never nasty and I can go in them bare foot, and I do....the eggs are collected without a need for washing, because of the clean bedding...I like my method of management..I also have a closed flock for good reason...just sayin

The deep litter method seems to end up the deep sh!t method...and the problems start. Don't forget the litter part if it's your method of laziness. just sayin. The deep litter method works, if you don't forget the litter part.

I've seen links posted here claiming that a lousy environment is healthy for the flock....how's it working for you? The birds deserve nothing but clean feed and fresh water...ok...I'm done!
