Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

trying out my new provider,, so far so good,,

by a chicken for each person, I meant the small 2 pounders.. I would just line them up in the large Nesco cooker and slow cook them as you would a turkey,, only not quite as long.. we usually have about 10 people at TG .. we never know who is coming until a few days before hand..

water in the outlets,, not a good thing,, prolly just popped a circuit breaker,, should be no real damage other than that ..

Hi All!

Head hurts and tired so just grab what applies to you......

Sorry, but maybe it's for the best for now.
Glad it's fixed.
I'm so sick of it too.
Wow, are you going to take it?
Hope you feel better.
Glad he got a home!
Hi Jim!

Night All!

We finally got the power back on out there, but had to hair dry a lot of things. I need to come up with better winter process out there as one of the doors is so stuck with ice and snow that is it thought to get in and out.

So on happier news...dd7 decided to change her science project from best growing conditions for plants to hatching chicks...proud momma! So now to get some eggs and run with this! So anyone nearby have pure hatching eggs to share? Hehe

Sure how many and when

Cheryl...you rock. You too Vicki for trying to hook me up! So I think I am going to set eggs between this weekend and next weekend, but I will be in your neck of the woods this Saturday and then driving past next Saturday. Science fair stuff is due march 6 so...21 days not give us a ton of time to get results... Morgan is almost 8 so we have to figure out the best hypothesis for this.. We are going to research this weekend. Otherwise... just that to hatch eggs you have to have a specific temperature and moisture level to mimic a momma hen hatching her own eggs.

we have 12 eggs at the moment- not sure what we will get today.. Let me know. As for her hypothesis- I would say you are on track....if you have temperature and humidity at _______ and ____ than in 21 days chicks should hatch

Science fair projects are so much fun (as a parent.. I did not like them as a kid).

One thought about the Independent Variable... how about whether she turns the eggs or not? This would keep everything else the same for all eggs (temp, humidity, etc). I had at first thought about 2 incubators, but then you end up with multiple independent variables (humidity, temp, etc) and makes it difficult determining what affected the outcome.

You will have to keep us all posted on her progress

good morning, I am on my new provider,, it seems to be about 10% quicker..

I will know more after I try to send a picture..

science fair eggs..

first off,, set the eggs so that they will hatch during the week.. do not set them on a weekend..
my choice would be a tuesday or wednesday , to cover any early or late hatchers..

you don't have to figure out the temps or humidity,, it is already figured out for you..

I would suggest a commercial incubator if you want the best results.. you can make a home made one later if you want to ..

I have a couple of LG you can borrow if there is a train to get them to you in time..

don't make the project too scientific for the grade level.. the kids will be thrilled just to see an egg hatch,, they will not understand all the gibberish involved ..
remember KISS .. Keep It Simple Stupid

awesome,, the picture loaded in seconds !!! not the usual 5 to 10 minutes it used to take..
this is the first picture I have sent with my new provider..

this is Dora on the day the pups were born,, 11 days ago..
they have grown to double of this size .. their eyes are not opened yet,,

took care of the birds.. just barely made it above zero..

got the electricity back on in the coop.

am making oven baked BBQ ribs for GS"s GF's birthday dinner today.. Annie is just finishing up the 7-minute frosting for the cake,,, and then I get the kitchen back.. I do not like cooking with anybody else in the kitchen ,, in my way ..

looks like my diet will take a back seat for another day ..

HI, quick question for here... I am doing lockdown on my shipped egg (only one viable) ANYHOW, am getting mixed results on if I should put this egg into lockdown in a carton or lay it flat. It has a saddle shaped air cell also.... just wanna do whatever is best and I seem to be getting half and half opinions and just wondering WHY I should do one way or another. Thank you!!!!!
