Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Do a search on Shamrock Farm, Hudson WI and it will come up. He does have a webpage. I think his birds are Dan Powell lines. I don't think he has lavender though. Maybe my idea of "rare" in brahmas isn't really that rare. Here is his list. I had a gold laced hen and a silver laced roo at one time. But I sold them.
*Buff Laced
*Silver Laced
*Gold Laced
*Black Laced Red
*Blue laced Gold
*Blue Laced Red
*White
I usually call them 'project' birds because I haven't seen one yet that meets the standard. Some are European imports that sport the long vulture hocks which will disqualify a bird here. I think the best chance of a new color in Brahmas making the show list is the partridge and they have many years of work yet before admittance is even a possibility. That's why I'm excited to get this SQ dark pair....I can keep a show line of darks and use them to improve my partridge too.
I'll look him up. I have buff/gold laced and black laced red...maybe I can add to them. Thanks so much for the tip!

BBL4 sorry about the cat, I too have never been able to be there, your daughter is a brave caring girl...

H&R also too bad about the Aunt, just think of all the changes she saw... first automobiles, antibiotics, radio, television, hurts my head to think of all the changes. Such a good and full life.

Brent and all have you tried the trick of doing the corn husk on cutting the lower inch off with a knife and then pulling on the top? No silk and you have to use pot holders so you don't burn you hands though.

Brewers on TV tonight and omg its Packer Game Saturday I can smell fall.

Got my new washer today, it is front load and had to move the dryer to where the old washer was, the area is so narrow where I have to put them the door would not open without hitting the laundry tub... Poor hubby now has me thinking about redoing all the plumbing, I have an active imagination when it comes to the house lately. All of which are costly

I have such a small laundry room I had to buy the Whirlpool Duet sport washer and dryer and stack them. Our comforter doesn't fit in there, so I have to go to the laundromat when it needs washing. I can tell you I prefer whirlpool over maytag appliances (even thought they are owned by the same company). I will never buy a Maytag anything again. Our fridge, which was $2500, had the motherboard go out in the first 9 months, they keypad on the front had to be replaced after the warranty was up, and last year the compressor went out ($800 repair). I also bought a Maytag dishwasher when we built the house. It was super loud and actually had a recall so I got money towards a different one. I don't know which mid-range appliance brand is the best, but it's not Maytag.

I'm gonna try that corn trick.

It's been a long time since I've posted. We've been cleaning, packing and gardening. We are officially on vacation. We are almost to Indianapolis. Nathan's family is having their reunion tomorrow. Then we will visit my mom on Sunday and Monday we start our long-awaited honeymoon in Canada.
I'm sorry to hear about kitty bl4, congrats sclark, vicki I hope you are holding up, jim you must be pooped from doing the sidewalks to not go out to your garden but once a week.

Hi all!

OK. was going to comment on a few things and spaced out. 75% done with the quill order. I will finish tonight (for you day people) and pack it Sun. Ship Mon. should be there Thur. or Fri.

Jon and friends did fine, the bulk of the hurricane missed them and the next one is heading north east of them. With his raise at Donkey Balls they also made him Full Time, something they haven't done with anyone in about 7 years!

Night All!

first of all, let me say,, WTH ?
I tried all day yesterday to submit these pictures.. couldn't do it..
gave it a try this morning and perfection..

,,
this is the "dutch door" it is 16 inches tall.. the chicks and guineas don't have
any problem hopping over it, and it does keep the tiny chicks confined..
the bottom of the wooden rail is slotted.. there are two screws; one on either end of the rail.
the gate just hangs from these two screws..

this is the screw and the rail is sitting next to it, ready to be put into place.
the screw is in the new oak door stop that I made a couple of days ago...
you can also see a bit of the oak sill

well, freezing corn this weekend, and attempting zucchini too, we'll see how that goes. time to clean the coop too, last time my kids did the lions share of it (and they are 6 and 3)

trying to teach them young they have to take care of the animals if they want to have them. they're with a friend today though so will just be me and my 2 year old (who does her best though). always more fun when I have help.

august is sure flying by, work next week then vacation! woohoo! camping with hubby and the kids in a tent for 3 nights... wild times... this year will be WAY easier though. last year our little girl was 1 when we did this so was interesting but doable, we figure will only get easier. heading up to hayward to camp on the flowage.

KV, which flowage? My mom and her hubby live near Hayward. Just outside of winter. I have enjoyed many summer visits on the Chippewa Flowage. Beautiful area for sure!
