Awesome picture!!

I noticed you have lots of orps. what is it you like obout them? your roo looks nice very tempting do you sell eggs for hatching I dont have any orps but i sure like there loook!!!! r they decent layers
Hi Zeke! I love all my orps. Very gentle, friendly birds, and great layers of large eggs. I'd say they lay 4-5 eggs a week. My boys are really well behaved and very large. I've heard a lot of people say that they go broody a lot, but I've only had one go broody a single time & that was it.
I can sell hatching eggs if you would like some.

Hi I'm Chris a mom of 2 kiddos and a bunch of critters! We live in the Wausau area on a small hobby farm. I have just become a a BYC member as I recently picked up a batch of chicks that will be added to my adult flock eventually and realized I may need some help with this endeavor! It's great to hear about all your chicks and other hobbies!Hey
Hey Chris, I am a newbie too and I live very close to you! I grew up in Weston, very close to Weston School, and now live in Kronenwetter!!! I also have 2 kiddos, both boys. We just got 3 chicks and we are looking to add a few more. My 2 yr old son is obsessed with the chicks, he wants to be by them constantly! My husband thinks I have lost my mind also, so don't feel bad

Everyone here has been very nice and have helped me with any questions, so ask away. Good luck with everything!

Not such a good day for the cat, he is looking pretty bad.... I do not think he ate much at all today, even though we are giving him an appetite stimulant. Tomorrow the vet is going to evaluate him and probably put the tube in again. I just don't know...... I hate making these decisions. It really stinks that I have to be at work all day long instead of taking care of him...... and it did not help at all that I had to be gone for 3 days this weekend so he did not get all the help he needed...... ugh....

Oh, that really stinks. So sorry to hear that, Mel.

I am so thankful I could be home with Ramses. It doesn't make the decision any easier, but if you can't find the time to give him the care that you think he should have, then maybe? But first see what the vet says and then see how he does over the weekend? There are just no good answers in these tough circumstances. I'm praying for you all.

Good really late evening!
Today was kind of like Cind's night last night! Woke up with the alarm at 7 and realized that it was NOT going to happen! Slept another hour and a half and messaged BigFam that I was NOT going to be leaving at 9 for the incubator transfer as planned...got the bator to her and then spent some time at the pet supply place next door...dog food, cat food supplies for the class tonight...zipped home; the kids arrived. We did errands...tortoise food, chicken food, wild bird food. Went to the bank and was severely overdrawn, back home to get one of those checks that they send you when you pay off a credit card...got the account fixed--off to Walgreen's for cold medicine (mine) Got home and made up some colored water for the kids to "paint snow" so I could do chores, friend arrives to come along to dog class to watch the kids, load up (panting now) off to class and find out that my dog is a wimp and she needs to move to Thursday class to "grow some balls!" Come home and let the kids watch a little Nick Jr to unwind from the Mountain Dew I let them have

THen off to bed for stories...did dishes; their dad arrived and they were gone! Then MY kids came home...AAHHH...my son is actually reading a book here in the LR with me! Then I decided to connect with you all and I have FIFTY ONE post to read!

SHEESH.....that is all I can say! LOL!

Sad to hear that the kitty had a not so good day BL4! How old did you say he is? At any age it is just too sad to see them going down-hill!
Someone said something that was really funny to me...CRS for sure!

To the new folks! I hope I catch sight of you

at Beaver Dam Zeke! I will confess that I needed to look up your hat! My son said what he thought it was...now we KNOW. (yeah, he was right)
Jim--sorry you lost your job...but I do agree with Dan that you need to sell what you have! How did you get so many orders for buff orps? I HAD two and they were the crabbiest, broodiest birds that I have ever owned! I dont think one ever even laid anything but she was always in the box guarding those eggs! I cannot say that I am sad that they have since passed.

Well, I guess I cant remember anything else that I wanted to comment on...I TRY to sell my eggs for $2.50 doz here...I just dont have enough customers and end up taking them to the food pantry of giving them away to people. I must have 10 doz in the frige now and another 4-5 on the counter! We need to eat more eggs...and my Doc says that since the levels on cholesterol have been lowered mine is now considered to be high.

I have read that eggs done contribute....but maybe 5-6 a day do?

Finny thing, I went out to lock up tonight and what did I smell? SKUNK! Must be the time of the year for them to wake up? Thankfully no dogs got sprayed and I didnt see it in any of the coops--so I didnt get it either

. As far as I know they wont kill chickens. I think they are like possums in that respect; opportunistic feeders.

I have contracted a terrible cold...and I have the kids tomorrow...ugh! SO Deli I am sorry that I cant come tomorrow! I was SO looking forward to your soup! Now if H&R goes herself I dont know when I will see you again! I hope yo uand your DH can make the bash...you wont be disappointed!

Speaking of the bash people!...We need some donations for the raffle! Chicken stuff or anything else! Last year we were able to pay the reservation fee and the electric for the camp with the proceeds! Just chime in on the bash thread and Brent or I will get a hold of you! Not much time left!

OK--I think I need to hit the hay...more cold medicine is in the works for me! Have a good one tomorrow...I am sleeping in! LOL---if only the dogs would let me!

hey zeke, interesting info, when I first saw eldorado on your header it brought back memories

in the early '70's I spent a lot of days hunting that area, started with snow geese at the marsh right behind the school. Then over a few years I got to know a few farmers in the area, used to get permission to train dogs during the summer on pheasants, hunted their land in the fall,,,,yup,,,good ole memories,,good dogs, good times for the hunters

the names escape me now, but nice folks in that area

good to see new folks in the group

Jim eggs are usually sold by the dozen,,,where did you pull 100 from?

bbl
I need 70,, some won't hatch, so I want 100 or so..

I am 35 posts behind,, I am going to answer them as I read instead of losing my mind..
