Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all! Jim must be busy playing nursemaid to all those puppies......

Pretty uneventful morning. The kids have off from school, so we are having a lazy day. My oldest DS requested my Banana cream pie, so that will be the project of the day.

No word from either job, I am thinking I did not get the PT position since it has been about a week and a half since I interviewed. Oh well!

Time for a refill.

Another Day in the Polar Vortex with NO Eggs :-(

Cute cute coop..
Hi All!

Wow, hope those animals get taken care of! Yes, make a stink!

To... hope you find a hose!

Delish...How's the hatch?

Head hurts.... going to try to get to bed..... Night!
Hatch is going well..I still have two left to get out of the shells..they are sure taking there sweet time..I am going to give immunization shots for the first time with this batch. I normally do not, however so many are requesting them and so many diseases out there. I worry I am going to kill them..but at least these are mine and I am experimenting on them first. Wish me luck..

Hi all ~ Nice to see you. BBP I have moved into Eau Claire and I have no chickens at all. All of my chickens went to a sanctuary. It has been one hell of a year. ha

My dog Tiger died 11 months ago and she was my best pal for 13 years. But I am starting a new part of my life now, hopefully wiser for all I been through. I miss coming here, but for a long time it was just too painful to come back. Still miss those feathered friends. Wow I really get attached to my animals . :'(

I will check in more often and t is nice you remembered me. :) thanks

Tiki!!! Welcome back and I am so sorry to hear about your dog Tiger and having to re home your chickens!

If you are ever over this way, I would love for you to visit my flock and have a cup of coffee/chat?

Off to finish painting the kitchen-trying to get this done before mIke gets home tonight from Ireland to surprise him!!!

TO, So sorry about the water, pipes and all, wish I was a plumber

Jim, I would look for a good used Nissan Xterra... Long as you aren't hauling/ storing something other than feed... Ours hasn't had any real issues at all I think it is going on 14 years and just the normal wear and tear items like tires/exhaust...Although it is a Nissan it is made in the US...Those pups are adorable, enjoy them now while they are not moving around... two weeks you will really have your hands and house full.

Soft shelled eggs also can be a sign of Infectious Bronchitis make sure the white of the egg is thick and not watery...a disease that often times is not vaccinated against I found out.. It's very hard on a chicken to lay the soft shell compared to the hard shells, you don't want to add egg binding to the issue. Keep and eye on her. Just like people not all chickens can reproduce, hope it all works out though and is just a glitch in her start-up. Hope that adding calcium oyster shell improves quality and you get some with good eggs to enjoy and do the happy egg laying dance...

Thanks for the nice comments on my coop. My hubby built it for me this past summer, I told him the deck might be overkill LOL .. but turns out I really like it :)

So I am getting little to no eggs AND when I do actually get a few eggs a day, someone is eating them!!! 2 out of 3 today :--( ... I give them BOSS, Apple cider vinegar in their water every other day, fresh veggies, oyster shells, layer mash, some extra vitamin feed additive and some scratch with the BOSS. I have curtains..............I am out of ideas and quite frustrated!!!!

It is nicer here today. Last few days even my heated watering bowl froze up. Sorry to those that have had freezing up issues. Spring will come eventually..................maybe??? it is almost chick time and seed starting time:)

Happy Friday to all!!

good early afternoon, I just came in from about 3 hours outside.. got a lot accomplished,, watered the chickens ,, twice,, geese fed and watered,, plowed the snow and widened the driveway.. drove down the road and plowed out the neighbors' mailbox.. their drive was already done..

then I dug the chicken plucker out of the snow and oiled up the motor and ran it for about 10 minutes ..

dumped a couple of sacks of feed into the feed bin so I don't have to do that when it is back below zero again..

the weather man said that Feb was going to be colder than normal also..

wouldn't this be something if this was the beginning of a new ice age and it is not going to warm up ??

I fixed the cracked bottom of one of the waterers ,, I did not have any JB Weld, I do not think the patch is going to hold.. JB Weld is on my next shopping list , for sure ..

Terri,, is your water running , yet ? I get upset when my outside water hose freezes, I cannot imagine how I would take it if the main line froze ..

What?? I heard (Farmer's Almanac) that Feb. is supposed to be warmer than normal. I refuse to believe this is going to carry on another month.

We are so glad you two had a good time! It was so nice to see you again. It was a lot of fun. I wish you could have stayed longer. They did some songs I am sure Joe would have enjoyed. But that must have been a real test of your willpower. You two did real good! The band got 5 more shows booked as a result, so that is good. They will be playing at the Lily Lake Resort in Burlington in May so maybe we can get together then?

It is a good thing you didn't park in the back. It was one solid sheet of ice. With those sexy boots of yours, I think it might not have been pretty.

Mel, cute kitties!
I plowed snow at that place once back in the day. The owner back then asked if I knew how to use the plow I had on my truck and asked me if I would plow out the drifts in the parking lot. He made a point of watching me plow and afterwards said, "Good thing you didn't hit anything". Grrrrrrr!
