chickenscratch: Are you going GF by choice or by necessity?
Judi- I am going GF by choice I guess. TO convinced me that I should give it a try since I have rheumatoid arthritis (an auto-immune disease) as it is supposed to decrease swelling, inflammation, etc. What I've noticed so far is that I do have less swelling over all in my joints, i am eating less, but tired. I also don't feel bloated. My intent overall is to try to go GF for 2-3 weeks. I also have started the kombucha for the same reason. I don't need to be GF, so I'm not sure that after the 3 weeks I'll stay 100% GF, but I still have a few weeks to go before I make up my mind. The real test here is that I started weight lifting with some guys at work today. Normally, when I lift weights, my arthritis flares up big time. I'll know by this weekend how that is effecting me.

Not much going on here. (I might have already said this but) I planted yellow squash, TO's gigantic hubbards, as well as serrano, jalepeno, and habernero peppers yesterday before the rain rolled in. I've pulled off my first peas and strawberries.

DH & I are watching the World Cup, so I should get off of here.

good afternoon,

Annie just called me and said that Cottage Grove got hit pretty hard by a storm,,
Hen & Roo , are you alright ?
My sister lives in that area, I haven't heard anything from her.. IDK if that is good or bad..

I spent awhile putting the new floor into the brooder pens in the chicken coop.. I ran out of 1/2 inch mesh just about a piece short of complete..

I found some welded "ears" for the loader cylinder mounting brackets.. I have to drive to Mosinee to get them tomorrow..

then I have to go up my road to the steel yard and pick up a couple of pieces of 3/8" x 3 1/2" steel plate..

I might get those coops cleaned out before winter, yet ..

my carrots and beets are up.. I can't believe how quickly the seeds are sprouting this year..
corn is a couple of inches tall already.. I didn't see any beans, yet..

how long does millet take to sprout ? such a tiny seed, should be quite quick ..

.......jiminwisc.....

yep we are good

, from what I know it passed by us- we got heavy rain and wind this morning and then by mid- day it was clear.

At 7 this morning we were awakened by those winds...... they picked up the patio furniture and slammed it into my Uncle's cabin setting off the alarm causing everyone to jolt out of bed. That sandy soil in Juneau County was not kind to the recent landscaping job; the beach was extended by another foot after the rain, and the just sprouting grass seed was swept into the lake. The underground sprinkler system had a unit completely exposed down by the beach due to the erosion. Not a pretty sight.

I will say though it is nice to be back home with all my kids and all my critters.

Evening All....tough about the egg loss sclark.....hope the new bators run smooth for you.

Nonstop thunder, lightning and rain last night...the house would light up, followed by it shaking from the thunder...it was a real storm for sure. The gardens are muck now.....when it dries the clay will harden like concrete.

The new trees I planted are enjoying the rain.

chickenscratch: I know I feel better when I eat GF. I do a combo; since we have to cook GF for Meghann but the cost tends to be higher on some things. Good luck and let me know if your looking for anything particular GF. The one things I still haven't been able to find GF in 7 yrs is teriyaki sauce-if anyone comes across it.

I will keep an eye out, Ang.

So sorry for the heavy losses, Staci. That had to be rough.

Thank you all for the well wishes! And a huge thanks to Cind for her green goop. His scratches are almost gone. Just the bite is left to heal.

You should try that GF cake I made..... this is the first weekend in three weeks I did not make it. Everyone raved about it and were shocked it was a GF cake! No grit!

I just love bread too much to give it up...... I would have to find a GOOD GF recipe to get me to even attempt a GF diet......

Hi All!

CC... Glad to see Steve's hand isn't all big and shiny anymore!

Jim... Glad you found the keet.

Well the little wren is at Fellow Mortals getting good care.

Pepper lost another chick. And I do mean LOST. I couldn't find it, I suspect it's under the pile of straw and shavings in the corner of the brooder box. I'll have to look tomorrow. She doesn't look when she scratches well.

Nothing else I guess.... night all!
