Stacy, so sorry about your Foly guy. ThT is a hard hit for sure. Were you able to at least get eggs/chicks from him? Hope so.
we are using feed mill food. And loving it. It is just so fine. I feel a lot gets wasted. Do any of you guys have fine textured feed? WhT type of feeders do you use?
tonight I am going to mKe an attempt to teach Thunder to lunge. I have watched tons of viseos. And think I have the just of it down. I tought Brownie with no issues. But he is smaller and easier to manage! If I do not post, it is because Thunder ran me over and I am in the hospital lol
Melanie: so far the Foley cock is fine, knock on wood. I took these pics lastnight while out in the pen. Not too good quality as they were on my phone.

The lighter areas on him are only from the sun shining directly and the camera, he has NO brass on him at all which is amazing.

Here are 3 of the 5 pullets.

Quite possibly! How about a pekin and a welsh? Then I could still try to sell the last ones as a trio. How far apart are we?
Hi Amyable,
I think we are little over 2 hours apart. However, I have been talking to a farmer about an hour from me who has 10 blue swede ducks he needs to rehome. He has a pair I can have. We're supposed to meet next week. Thank you for considering splitting your group up!

Oops. I went back and re read. And see I was wrong. But it is stillnso hard to lose any. Maybe some acv in the waternto give them a little feel better. We also got some bad feed. Ours was from fleet. And after that, we looked over every bag we opened. If it had white powder on the pellets we returned it. But I am now happier that wr are getters ng the feed mill stuff. Haven't had issues. nock on wood.

Do you know whereabouts these swedes are from? I have a pair and I'm looking to possibly expand their family :)

I found the listing on craigslist, but the man, Jerry, has an organic farm in Delavan WI, bella goat farm. Between Elkhorn and Janesville. He is looking to rehome 10 of his blue swede ducks. If you're interested and can't find the listing I can give you his email.

Hmmm Is Farm and Fleet the same company as Fleet Farm? That is where I currently buy all my feed.

If I recall right, they are close to the same idea. But farm and fleet definitely has more variety /selection.
Fleet farm had just store brand for feed. Does farm and fleet have more? What do you feed? I have been advised that the store feeds have a poor type of protein. And I was surprised to find that the mills have very competitive pricing. And the feed is better quality. So I find myself going through a bit less. You can even work with them on a formula that best fits your needs :)
altho I did find not all feed mills were willing to change up formulas. So you just need to call and talk with the guys. Usually they are super helpful!
