Frigid Morning here too. Yep X2 on your bunny set-up cs....what a easy peasy to clean set-up.you have there. Do you eat those bunnies too?

I'm hoping for warm weather, just to be able to enjoy the outdoors without a facemask on. The wind really has had a mean bite to it this week.

Chili sounds good Cind....we made two big venzun roasts yesterday so we would have the leftover stuff for making soup today....lots of garden veggies will go into the pot today and it will taste goodie for sure!

Wish that I could claim ownership of that bunny set up, but I copied it from the internet and pasted it here for you all that have rabbits. We don't have them anymore.

I've been working with the same line for almost 10 years...I started with chicks from a guy west of Green Bay that was on this thread back then....I have no clue where his stock originated from.... these lay well, and have gentle roo's.....not show quality, but nice lookin birds though, in my opinion.

Just had a new furnace and hot water heater installed, not really a great day to do it, but we had supplemental heat during the install. Next we need a new stove, our glass cracked on the inside of the door and the electric display doesn't work. When spring comes, we have to get our chimney and roof worked on. Oh the joys of home ownership!

Chickens still aren't laying, so I'm looking at new breed ideas....hopefully a few Buckeyes?

John made arrangements for it but it is probably the same guy - Delbert is his first name and I doubt there is more than one Delbert who does testing. He'll be here next Sunday as well.

I recommend Infinity Exteriors for roofing. They are out of Waukesha. Not sure if they will come down by you but it wouldn't hurt to ask. They did our roof (and later our gutters & trim) a few years ago and we were so pleased with it that I had them do my mom's roof too. I recommend them to everyone. Very professional, great quality and reasonably priced.

As Delisha said, any breed will slow down in her laying as she gets older. If you want lots of eggs out of not a lot of hens, I'd maybe recommend getting some production hens. They will lay almost daily until they burn out, then they will kick it (between 2 & 3 years old). I would get new chicks every other year. You can easily get them at any TSC or other farm/feed supply store.

To whomever asked about frostbit combs, vaseline works well to protect from getting damage. If it is already damaged, as Bigz said, Blu kote works best if it was bleeding, but in a pinch if you don't have any Blu kote, you could put a thick layer of Neosporin, without the pain killer, on it. Bag Balm or Udder Balm would work too.

Every flock in the state is suppose to be registered....just like a car. It's not the tester's responsibility to make sure your flock is registered...just like it's not your auto mechanic's responsibility. All the testers do is draw blood to check for certain diseases.

before you climb down my throat, I meant that the tester should have been able to answer that question for you and I did not mean that he should have to go get it for you..

I am sorry, but I was raised in a time when the people in the USA were FREE .

I just would like to give you youngsters an idea of what it was like..
I can just about tell the age group of some of you by the acceptance and tolerance you have for regulation .
through no fault of your own.

I lived in the city limits of Wausau while growing up.
we had ducks, chickens a goat and rabbits.
our neighbors had the same with some variations.. one man a block to the west of us raised a couple of pigs. and butchered them in his back yard.
No license, registration nor permission was required..

A dear friend, a wife to a Dr,, had a driver's license. she died just short of 100 years old.. she never took a driver's exam nor a road test.. she applied for the license when that was what was all that was required.. from then on she just renewed whenever it was due..

many a driver was given a ride home by the local police instead of getting cited for drunken driving.. and the next day the policeman would pick up the sober guy and take him back to his car..

just a few examples of what it was like when we were more free.

if it were like that today, this website would not exist ..
