Hope everyone is staying warm with this snowy weather. Did not get much more than a little dust in Madison area so that was nice. I know it is already December but i am never ready for the cold and snow.
Ok so I adopted the 4 chickens about 5 weeks ago. A delware mix, a dominique and a red and a black sex link. they were supposed to be between 5-9 months but one of them I believe was closer to 12-15 weeks.. the black sex link is still developing its brown on neck and has no red on its little comb and almost no wattles with no color. Still too young. I beleive that the dom and the red are both laying for me. One started on day one with us and the other kicked in 2 weeks ago and is fairly steady layer.
I still think my delaware is a roo... but still young --- but looks like those tail hackles are forming. If so, it is going back and exchanged for a sure hen. It is a pretty bird, but we have them for eggs so will go back.
Anyway- here is a wierd question... do I need to train my birds to like scraps? beside bread products, they wont eat much else- I have tried squash, veggies, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs... they just are not much interested. crazy
I also have one that has loose stools- any advise? It looks like the cecal poops but is a daily thing rather than once a week so not sure what to do.
Hope everyone has their holiday shopping done. I just have to get some gift cards and i will be done. Thank goodness.
