Good morning! Had a nice chat with my GF over coffee...well over the phone and coffee!
My incubator is still swinging on temps...it is starting--no it IS driving me insane! I agree with Jim that the temp should STAY at what it is set no matter the outside temperature...like his oven analogy. But why does it change so rapidly when I uncover it? It must be leaking heat out so badly through the styro that the blanket insulates it too well? I can get a 4 degree temp swing just by uncovering it! So I guess when a hen gets off the nest the eggs probably drop a degree or two...maybe I dont need to worry that much...I just want to get these eggs IN!
On another note...I decided to go to Watertown today. Good store there (I hope) and DH ordered the wrong case for building dd25's new desk top...her motherboard will not fit! So we get to send it back...I wonder how much THAT will cost? Probably cheaper than the PO at any rate.
I sure hope you dont get riled again Jim reading the incubation thread....maybe I should post my troubles there and see what they come up with?
I am sure the answers to that would get you going good!!!
Maybe we all should have an incubation discussion at the bash...I will bring those inflatable boxing gloves that the kids have and we can all duke it out! Now THAT would be fun!
DrH--you must be really busy today that your message was so short. I feel cheated somehow
I hope you get everything done that you need to...
Becky--I am getting some quail eggs in the mail from WhiteConfections in March. Maybe (if I have luck with he hatching) I can get some to you? He says he is shipping in March but I am going to ask him to ship closer to April--gotta get some success under my belt with this bator! WHat are you doing with your quail? Just for fun? I am thinking about having a taste of them...hey JIM--did'nt you say that you tasted button quail? How on earth did you prepare them and eat them?
I am heading to the swap at Jefferson early this time...looking for 2 female Zebra finches. I was also thinkin g about taking some roos, ducks and geese...but I think I will take the easy way out and make a sign to post!
NOt as easy as selling them there...but I hate all the prep of actually taking them and the barter and all that!
OK gotta go and read about incubation
Have a fantastic day! Terri O
