Frizz......you will hate carrying water in the winter. I promise. Make sure you get a setup that involves a hose at the very least. For the last four years I kept the hose in the basement, and took it out through the basement window every night to water the horses and ducks. You don't have to worry about it freezing up when the hose is kept inside. Then last year, when the tornado wrecked my barn, I fixed everything up and got water hydrants installed. The water line is below the frost line and the hyrant drains itself when you shut it off so it doesn't freeze up. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
You don't want to worry about horses having enough water......they will colic, especially in the winter, if they don't have enough water. Make sure you have electric nearby too so you can put in a tank heater. I have one for the horse trough and one for the duck pool. And yes, I spend a lot on electricity!
