But I have to get the directions for the bash because the folks that want the white call ducks might come up! THey are really good people...live "down in the holler" on my road. Just wanted to let all you folks who have birds with poor production know that I just talked with Ron Kean (poultry specialist) at UW Extension about the issue. To his knowledge, there isn't anything going on statewide that might be affecting production. ON THE OTHER HAND, he is going to ask around and check with some of the poultry people he knows in Madison and see if there is something that could be causing reduced production. When I reported what we've all been saying in our gab sessions, it set him thinking. And he does know about BYC!

I'll let you know when (and if) I hear back from him. In the meantime, I'm going to keep urging my ladies on. Maybe I should offer laying bonuses!

Deb, sorry you can't make it to the bash. I was looking forward to meeting you. But please take care of the DH and we'll all keep our fingers crossed that he takes that doc seriously!

If the white call ducks are girls, and they don't go with someone else, I'll be interested. Not that I need any more birds

Job interview went good and I am a shoe in. Glad that's over and now I can start planning for the next couple months. Had to call the cops when I got home. There is a punk kid that just flys down our road everyday. Well today I let DD15 drive home from drivers ed and they almost rear-ended us! Like a couple inches off the bumper close. Well I am ticked, so I followed them to their house, wrote down the address and filed a report. A very nice sheriff came to the house and took my report and went to go talk to them. Hopefully this will stops them. Otherwise I will just keep calling and filing a report. The next times a ticket, that might stop them. Well I'm off to eat supper.

DHs truck is sick and he will be trying to work magic on it, sure hope he can. The car was a $377.00 bill and DH after reading it saw where the mechanic said it didn't need an alignment but we were charged for one !!!! Well he got on the horn and we were credited some of that back

And they wonder why no one wants to trust them

Shanti...Ron Kean is the best. If you send him a email he always will answer you back without delays. Definitely a good go to guy.

Poured here again today. I had a window of time without rain. Fired up the weber, got the coals going and then pulled er under the overhang to cook Hot Italians while it rained hard again....

managed to pull it off that way.

Picked up some balloons today. I'll have some on a steel post marking the turnoff on hwy 45...then I'll have some on the gate so you know to just go ahead through the woods on the gravel road. Signs are also posted, just want folks to cruise with ease.

And I was out weeding between downpours today & found I also have some lamb's ears and rose of sharons that I could bring along if anyone is interested? Please let me know so I make a point of digging them out. I am so excited! I wanted to come & meet everyone so badly.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but I am kinda relieved to hear that quite a few other people have been experiencing egg shortages this year. I was worried I had some really defunct chickens. And you're absolutely right, Bigz. Heritage breeds from now on! I am hoping you will all give me lots of input on your favorite breeds on Saturday.

Does anyone with the egg troubles feed their girls Layena, by any chance?

Deb, I sent you a PM, but once again, I sure hope your DH is feeling much better real soon. And make sure you take care of yourself too!

SF, hmmmmm, drama. Enough of that stuff on TV. Sounds like a very young, attention-deprived gal. I feel kinda bad for Will's BF, or maybe they're made for each other.

In any case, if his BF knows you at all, trusts Will at all or at the very least has a little common sense, he should figure out it was just a line of bs. I personally wouldn't waste 1/100th of a second worrying about it. She is so not worth it. Sorry to hear about work & the ducks too.

TO, you're right on the wry neck. I've read a few times not to breed those birds because it was a genetic defect from a recessive gene. It is a type of scoliosis, or curvature of the spine. And I wish you lived a little closer. I could sell those eggs for you no problem.

SF, I hear you on the rotten hatch. I set a bunch of eggs that were due to hatch this Thursday-Friday and every one of them quit. They were looking REALLY good too and then-nada.

One other warning for all of you traveling from the South: Country USA is going on in Oshkosh through Saturday, so the traffic is going to be 5x worse than normal.......

Another long day at work today; almost 12 hours...... I'm pooped.
