Good evening al! I just got back from work at 7pm...way too late for me! We did go to Menard's and then out to eat...kind of nice to run your own errands AND get paid for it!
THis client loves to poke around in stores like farm and fleet and menards! Yeah again! I picked up a few sets of hinges and latches for doors (for coops of course!) And a few other odds and ends. Then we went to Garibaldi's for some Mexican food. She hardly ate anything!
THe bank in town said -1 at 5pm! DH says it is supposed to get to -10 tonight! BBRRRR! We need a shivering blue Smiley! More bad news from this farm...BOTH the white sheep and the goat died sometime during the night! I am blaming either them getting out and eating too much grain or milk fever for the goat. THe sheep was very skinny but was laying under the heat lamp. Eating and drinking ok but not great. THe goat was shivering a bit last night and I thought milk fever...guess I should have checked it out...kicking myself now! I am going to try and get that other ewe in tonight. If I cant get her in by myself I will call my friend to help me...her knees have been hurting though...not sure she will be able to come. It is really rough walking around on that frozen mud with horse foot imprints in it!
BBP--I am so sorry to hear that you have mites! THe only think I know about them is that they hide in cracks in coop walls and roosts and go on the birds at night. I didnt think that they were common in the winter...learn something new every day I guess! Have you outlined a plan to get rid of them? I would be interested in hearing it...just in case ya know?
CC--fingers crossed for your broody! She looks like she has the"right" attitude!
RAIM--I have birds in that pen all year round. THose birds dont free range at all. They are the ones that I took to the fair and they just stain in quarantine! LOL! They did look pretty happy about me making a "hot spot" for them today though...My wheaten Ameracauna looked really chilly today...she is the bottom of the pecking order in that pen and I put her under the light. she just layed there and spread out her wing like they do...an Andalusian and a Marans hen promptly strutted over and kicked her out...maybe I need a few "hot spots?"
Well, my drink is done...guess I gotta head out and wrangle sheep...man I miss my dog! I might be back--if not, NIGHTIES! Terri O
ETA--I dont know RAIM--the lonk took me to a pig farmer in So Carolina? I thought you grew up THERE! Maybe me and BigZ watched the same one?
