Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice pics raim, thanks for sharing them.

Just got off the phone with Dave by Pulaski. I'm going to set a doz black java with my Buckeyes on April first. He only has the Delawares, but his friend had the javas and will be able to help me out with some. I kinda like those mustard foot birds. He said he will prolly be able to make the bash again. I was glad to hear that.

Question;

has anyone dealt with "Purely Poultry" out of Fremont?

http://www.purelypoultry.com/free-range-broilers-p-704.html

They are resellers, at least for the "Free Range" broilers that I called about. I plan on a few batches of Cornish X, from Sunnyside but I also want to try at least a batch of the "Range" genetics. Most likely raise them with some turkeys in late summer, early fall.

Also if any one has raised birds in a hoophouse there is a thread going,

thanks for any input

Good luck on that one. All FT knows how to make are roos!

TO, I sure hope your baby makes it.

Oh yum, DrH! Please share the meatloaf recipe! And I sure don't hear many complaints about only having to plow 2 times in a winter. Unless of course they have a new toy they want to play with.

Ang, I hope your DD is feeling better soon. You could try saddles or separate the boys for a while. I can't find her link, but I ordered some saddles from a gal on here & she had them to me in a few days. She is lovemychix here on BYC. I'm glad you got your computer problems worked out. I hope you do too, Tiki! We miss you.
Oh, found her!

Raim, I'm glad Sparkles is getting better. Love that name too.

FT, that is exactly what my sis does. She keeps her hens and a few choice roos penned, and lets the rest of her roos free range.
It just started snowing by you. Jim? It has been snowing down here all day long. Big flakes too, but they've been melting!

Sorry Bigz............

Show quality bantam & standard chicks (Walworth County)

CC: Thanks I just ordered 3 saddles from her!!!
So help me out here-do you take them off at night and put them on in the morning? Or do they just stay on for awhile? When they roost will it interfere with their ability to tuck their beak under their wings/in their feathers? Anything else I should know before putting these on the girls? (Loved the pink with black polka dots LOL)

Hey now.............

MLH & Raim, way cute chickies!

DrH, congrats on the eggs. Hope your #s keep going up, although it might be difficult with all those new roos of yours.

And thank you for the recipe!

BL4, you almost made me spit my coffee with your MG bead statement. You crack me up!

Great job on the dress. And come on! You're just going to leave us hanging like that?

Cind, it depends on how many eggs you get a day & how many eggs your bator holds.

Sorry Bigz. The smiley threw me, is all.

Ang, glad to help. I leave mine on the girls. Hmmm, it possibly could interfere with them tucking their beaks under at night. I never thought about it. Or noticed, for that matter. And I have cameras out in the coop, but naturally we just took their saddles off a few days ago.............

But we have a heat bulb out there for them if they get cold. I really liked those pink polka dotted ones too!

Good evening all!
Well, I have only one little Ben chick. None of the others hatched. Going to candle tonight and give them one more night and toss tomorrow.
Ah well.
Other then that everyone is doing great! Gave them all some meal worms today and that was very chickenlicious. The Orloffs "helped" me with emptying the container.

Dan-BigZ is right, Purely Poultry is a broker. If your looking for Freedom Rangers/Red Rangers (free rangers) try Abendroth's Hatchery. He's a hatchery in Waterloo, WI and he has Cornish Rock broilers and the Rangers. I have had his Cornish and they are good. He just brought in the Freedom Rangers this year and I am planning on trying them this year. He can either ship or you can pick up the chicks. He does have a web site. www.abendroth'shatchery.com

Raim -cute chicks!

Well, Ben is screaming his head off! Gotta jet!

Love the pictures, thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the Bear and Turkey tags guys, Good Luck !
We have good news today-DHs Daughter will be giving us another Grandchild early Oct.

Love those babies. It will be her first and they are sooooo excited.

Got 10 eggs yesterday looks like the girls are getting back in there grove. Had to hold back on egg sales for a bit.
DH is working on his man cave. Should be better for him soon, he's adding a few cabinets and a counter top. He scored a great deal.

Are plans made for the spring Bash made yet?
FT how many critters do you feed at this time? Sounds like you have a great place. BTW our truck camper coop is working great, thanks for the great idea.
Have a good night

FT... I only had the chicks out in the garage for a half an hour. I was reading that would be ok. They are in the cooler room in the basement now as a gradual transition for them. The heat lamp is definetly still on. They seem pretty perky. I moved their branch closer to the light, and moved the food and water further away from the light. Now their chickie butts have to move further for food and water.
