Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good evening, to shoot or not to shoot, that is the question.. I am not negative to shooting a nuisance animal.. I doubt that you will see that wolf again..

those halter marks look as if they put that halter on when it was just a colt and never touched it again.. judging by the short space between the ears and the mark on his face.. his head was much shorter back then.. his shyness is probably more from lack of training, than anything else.. If they didn't bother to adjust his halter, then they didn't ride him much , either..

Dan, I use 4 parts corn to 3 parts oats.. but 50/50 is ok too.. I am using 4 to 3 right now for the laying flock and getting good egg production. the shells are thin, but not fragile..

I got all the cukes and squash hilled and watered today.. tomorrow I want to add a bit of manure and then mulch the hills.. soon I will have to stake the tomatoes.. they sure are growing nicely..

I had to turn the temp down on the new brooder.. it was 117F this morning.. no wonder the chicks slept outside.. I got it down to 82F at last check.. I will check it once more before going to bed.. their "night light" burned out already.. I put a new 25W red tinted bulb in there..

I sat out on the lawn in the shade of the black walnut trees this morning for coffee.. It was like a mini safari.. first the two big dogs came to check me out, then three peafowl, then a small flock of guineas and then the three pups came to get their bellies scratched,, and finally 6 geese came and laid down all around my chair.. I'll bet my blood pressure was waaaaay low..

still need a bit of rain..

Sure Jim... One up me on the "lounging outside amongst animals" story.

Night all, sweet dreams!
yup, and I didn't even mention the turkeys and how one puppy came back all alone to sit on my lap.. I was holding all that in reserve ..

Just finished reading all the pages and am way too tired to reply! DD20 and DH and I went to a horse show today. DD rode well but the judge didnt like her horse. Oh well...
Man I have to go and sleep. Please no one quote FT's entire post any more! THos pics are just terrible to see!
Nighties! Teri O

Left this AM at 8 and got home at 2pm. 2 hrs on the bike out and 2 hrs on the way back. For a less than 2 hr meeting. It was humid and warm when I left, but as soon as I got out of the Lake Superior Basin it cleared up and heated up!!! Stupid me went without Sunblock because it was overcast. Top of my arms and my head are a nice red color... That is the last time I forget to take a long sleeve with me. I may buy one just to stick in the saddle bags.

Hopefully this all turns into a nice tan tomorrow.

Got all the peeps moved around, still haven't sold one yet. Maybe next week, got another wedding next weekend too.

Lots to do.

Talked with the neighbors about the horse. They know the woman. Her xhub (that she lives with) and her are both alcoholics. She even has a disorderly conduct charge (reduced from battery) for biting her 6amsisters finger nearly off I guess !! I asked it they think she would retaliate if she knew I turned her in for animal abuse. Yes was their answer. Then my neighbor said he won't even talk to her, I asked why and he said years ago he pulled her out of a ditch and in return she accused him of stealing her checkbook out of her car. He never was in the car. Said her sil was.
So needless to say I need to tred softly. I don't want to put my horses or other animals in harms way if a Nut case comes after me.
I will wait and see if she calls me about looking at the saddle. In the mean time I have my feelers out for the previous owner to find out more of the horses background.
Jim you're right she hasn't ridden him for a long time.
He wasn't spooky at all when we were there. By what I've read he is at very high risk of blindness just because of the color pigments around his eyes and being half appaloosa. Plus whatever that discharge is (golden yellow) can't help matters.
It just makes me sick to think of this poor horse living alone in the woods chained up to a shed. Even worse is knowing that there are TONS more like it.

Ok, for some reason (oh I know it's because I stayed up until 6am) I'm getting real sleepy.

Garden still isn't in. DH spent the WHOLE day down at the neighbors. They are putting ona new roof and he was doing some of the ground work. TG he didn't go up on the roof. It is a two story old farm house with steep roofs and DH is on blood thinners. Not a nice combo.

Ok, night all

FT someone needs to call the rescues or police, for that poor horse, he is not 100 lbs under weight try more like 200 or 300 lbs under weight, and he needs vet care asap, I swear I do not know what is wrong with ppl...... she must need drinking money, to ask for so much for that horse, he isn't worth 400, in this market. Drunks care little about anything except their next drink, so it's no surprise that this poor guy is in such Terrible condition
Makes me just sick to see it. I have only seen 1 other in worst shape, with that halter, it had to be surgically removed because it had actually grown into the animals head. seen it once with a dog collar as well, GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR ppl make me so dam mad, with this kind of thing. Where exactly is this horse maybe me and the hubby will take a bike ride up there tomorrow, and I'm too far away to worry about revenge.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway been busy with the grandson around here and trying to keep critters cool, broke out the gallons and half gallons for freezing a few days ago, anticipating the need for the next couple days. so 1 shelf in my freezer is full of ice jugs, for everyone's water............
Garden needs water again and I really wish we would get a bit of rain............ crazy weather 1 year all it does is rain the next ya can't get any unless you do a rain dance...............
anyway I finally sized them pics of the babies who are 2 weeks old Monday
I'll just post 1 of each, they are cute but not looking like I was expecting them too

DrH... wish I hadn't been so "road weary" when I was up there... I would have paid more attention to the rooms you were working on

I will say, it's a cute little house! Wouldn't mind it myself.

vicki.... it's so cool watching the girls try something new!

unk... congrats on the hatch!

Jim... I think there is no medication in the world that can bring down blood pressure like watching the flock!

FT... Hope you can work thing out with the horse! Yea, keep hubby off the roof!

GR65....Are those black ones BRs or Doms?

Isis moved the kids to under the couch. I don't think they will be there long... pretty tight. One of the Ameracaunas I got from Jim went broody. She's a sassy little broody too! Well, Jasmine was sassy at first, so was Storkey... she'll get over it. I gave her a dozen guinea eggs. Those males have been here long enough at least some should hatch. Jasmine's little flock is still at 14!!! Only 1 is looking like Jasmine!

The horse is in Onieda County. Pelican Lake. Right on Hwy 45 but you can't see it from the road at all. If you are serious about riding up here PM me.
I have to leave at 10am to go down to Horicon to my nephews graduation.
Aren't you near GreenBay?
That poor horse is all I can think about. I know a few years ago my sister founda few horses on Hwy S that had escaped their pasture. They were skin and bones. She called the Forest Cty Sheriff and they did nothing. They guy is a horse broker and well let's just say up here I don't think they care !!! Plus with no Humane officer in Forest Cty their hands are tied !!

Well, I'm nodding off. Time for bed so I can get up and get on the road.
I'll pm you my phone number too.

On a brighter side. Here are my latest hatches. The one in the front is my Lemon Lavender Amerauana. It is only 2 days old. The rest are barn yard mixes and are 1 week old.
