Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Amberflea - so did you get your BCM and Pene's from Our fly babies then??

I got several chicks from them last year too. This year I tried for 5 months to get some SFH chicks from them and it was always one thing or another and never did. That's why I ended up with hatching eggs instead. I maybe interested in you rooster if I can re-home one of my others as I have 3 Partridge Pene's from them as well.

Vicki - wow you were busy today!! Bet that coop looks great with all that work!

TO - hope you post some pics of those chicks! Sorry to hear you still have horse troubles. My BO's aren't the broody ones but my RLW sure is!

Hi Bigzio~wow, that's some bill! But you're right, you can't put a pricetag on your eye sight. As for the chili starter recipe, I cheat!
big_smile.png
I've tried different ones over the years but to be honest, the best I've found is Mrs. Wage's Chili Base. It's super easy and everyone likes it. Really easy to make the basic chili with and really lends itself to more creative applications. I buy my at FF. I think it's like 2.49 and makes 5 pints or more.

I checked out wormguard on Ebay and the price was ok but the shipping was nuts. Going now to holistichorse, thank you!

Dang BigZ, mine were $1750/eye! COMPLETELY worth it!

Ghost, there is a medicine they give cancer patients that can help take the edge off the nausea. My vet had my cat taking it. Not certain if you can give it to dogs but if you want to name of the drug just ask. WHY the vet would tell you the ONLY place to get a Ultrasound is Madison was incorrect. Appleton has a CT scan machine and a ultrasound. Expensive, yes but not as bad as Madison!

MLH, I would vote amputate if that is a possibility....... It would be great if you could get that knee stable with wrapping (get everything where it needs to be) and hope either everything heals up nicely or the joint freezes......

Heard from the city today. There was a statement made at the last Council meeting that the Poultry Ordinance was asked to be changed 4 years ago..... so Monday I asked the clerk to do some digging for me..... she sent me an email today stating she has found no record of ANYONE asking to have the poultry ordinance changed in the past 4, 5, or 6 years. Take that!

Welcome newbies!

I know there is more but I am super tired...

Later Gators!

good PM,, just had a scare,, my keyboard quit and I couldn't type..it's OK now..

I am going to make a practical statement.. not to point at anybody or single anybody out..
when you get a dog, you have to realize it is going to be with you for just a fraction of YOUR life span..when they get old, you must let them go.. to keep doctoring them, you have to ask yourself, Is it for their own good, or for mine ?? just saying......

I picked up the head for the tractor.. and it was pointed out that there were no main seals in the bearing "kit".. so I called the YT company and asked them what gives ? the guy did a search and said that they weren't forgotten,, they are not included.. WTH? He cais to let him call the mfgr and see what the deal was.. I told him that it was misleading to call it a "kit" and then leave parts out.. He did call me back in about ten minutes and said that the best he could do was to let me have the seals at their cost.. I said, how much $$ ?? (they are about $125.oo / set..) their cost ?? #35.oo.. and he is sending them right away and I should have them by the weekend.. We will see,,we will see..

I cleaned a couple more pieces and painted them today.. pretty soon I should be running out of pieces, eh ??

the last batch of eggs (guinea) are pipping.. I have shut down two of the bators.. It sure will be quiet in here next week after I shut down this last one..

The kid (Jordan/age 14) wants a few of my quail.. Annie said that I should give him all of them.. I agree.. I don't want to be messing with them all winter.. I will make a deal with Jordan to let me have some eggs next spring..

maybe I will loan him my quail cage to sweeten the deal..

I gave him 2 dozen guinea eggs a month ago.. he called me and said only 5 hatched.. those eggs were from Marlene's birds.. some of the ones I have hatching are from that same batch of eggs.. along with a dozen that Annie sent for,, Purple guineas..

It will be only a one Miller night.. I am tired..

I brought Dora in and turned the two puppies loose for the night.. They are real good about being kenneled all day..

Hi All!

Vicki... Guess you need to spoil those 2 with treats now so they don't run any more! Sounds like quite a project.

FT... nice to see Cody again!

DrH... DH just had some polyps removed. Glad all went well with "L". BTW...one of Jim's pups was naughty with a chicken and Dora was in the road.... all are OK. Prince (Ken's dog) is the one that died. See what happens when you 'speed read" LOL

TO... hate to say it... but getting the cat fixed came down to MONEY!

Believe me, I hate the thought of more kittens too! I'm good about getting pets fixed, just the timing was bad. The first time surprised us because she was so small and we didn't know how old she was. I do feel bad.

I was even checking around for some place that would do it for less than the area vets would.

to me! BTW... you could try some plantain on your horse. A very common "weed". Just "bruise" by lightly rolling in your and and apply the leaves directly to the wound and wrap with vet tape. Change twice a day for the first 3 days then once a day until gone. I've even stopped gangrene with it! http://www.liveinthenow.com/article/plantain-herbal-medicine-right-beneath-your-feet Feel free to look up more info.

Jim... I agree about "letting go" I wish DH would have let Duke go sooner... he was a good dog and we only had him about 6 1/2 years.... nut he was 10 when we got him! I felt is last year was DH, defiantly not for Duke.

amber... nice looking roo!

MLH.... It was me who knew the quote... just sayin'

Well, time to hit the hay.... Night all!

Baked French Toast and bacon for breakfast! Frenchie, you taste GOOD!

I put some cloves in with the egg mix aling with some cinnamon; this stuff tastes like Chai tea! Yummy!

Just checking in before I run to work. I try to check a few times during the day so I do not end up reading forever at night!

Almost done! Time to move!

morning all!
just checkin' in. Already been outside and getting things done before the heat. Picked another egg basket full of toms. I don't want to curse the blessing, but enough already! Let everyone out into the garden early because of the impending heat. Fricassee (aka Broody Butt) is still chasing poor Crockpot. Don't know what's up with that. Crocker must have done something good that got her so mad ! That chook is such a sweetie but really has a knack for getting into mischief!

BIGZIO~checked out Holistichorse and their prices are on shipping are really fair. Thanks again! BTW do you know how old a chick has to be before they can start on the wormguard?
Well, have to try to get a bit more done and then hubby is taking me to Carter for dinner

Stay cool everyone

looks like we are in for a hot day today- around 98* or so

have to head to the garden this am and pick green and yellow beans, picked around 12 gals the other day, plan to make dilly beans and probably will freeze some and eat some too!

without wheels today, DH had to take the car to work, water pump went out on his truck so the kids and I get to stay at home... wish I could say it's a day off but the paperwork is waving at me so plenty to do.

for you, it's hard when pets start having health problems.

can't remember who posted the picture of the eggs next to the fry pan, my DD thought that was great and was wondering if it could be re-posted

sorry to hear about the other pets who are not doing well

Morning all!
Stopping by to catch up before I get to the Girls. Took care of the Dungeon Crew already though. It's gonna be a hot on for sure so I want to get all the critters cared for and then I think I'll go to Maynards and check out their sale stuff.

Buddy is doing a little better. He will but his foot down now but still is non weight bearing the majority of the time. Had the "talk" with DH about what the vet said and I am relieved that we are one the same page. He also understands that the end for Buddy maybe closer then he'd like. He also knows that we need to act in Bids best interests. We both can't really justify the surgery, nor the cost of the surgery. So we have decided on the "wait and see" method. He is still on his arthritis pain management plan in the mean time so he is comfortable. Once we get word back from the orthopedic surgeon then we will know what to expect.

BL4-I actually thought about amputation. But after talking with the vet, I don't think it's really an option. Since he has arthritic changes in his right knee and his right (I think it's the right!) elbow, we are more concerned with his weight and movement being distributed to already compromised joints. Plus add in his size and weight, it could be a tricky situation.

TO-sorry your having horse injuries....poor things....

Vici-Holy Cow!! You did some serious work on your coop!
clap.gif
I need to work on mine but I I'll wait till it cools down some.

BigZ-Wow! If it helps, your eye surgery cost less then I thought it would. I thought they ran around $3000 out of pocket per eye!! That is why I have not looked into having mine done. I'd dearly love to be able to get rid of my glasses....Oh well, maybe someday....

Well, best get myself going! I'm sure the Chickerdoodles are wondering where their morning treats are.....I'm sure I'll get "yelled" at by Lavender. Silly Bird....I swear she is all talk and no egg.

Good morning folks,

also trying to beat the hear today, did the picking last evening and finished this morning, last weekend for traffic, still waiting for the corn to finish off, in hindsight should have irrigated it the last 4 weeks

once again getting the remaining roosters caged for growout, one of my fool's day roos BCMXAmeraucana cross is aggressive with the girls had one get an injured leg on Tuesday,,,,he gets a timeout. The BCM's from Memorial Day will get sorted and those destined for the freezer will keep him company. I do have 2 breeders in WI I am working with to find a new BCM roo or 2 to use in improving this line.

29 layers and getting an average of 25 eggs a day the last 2 weeks, helps pay the rising feed cost, still have not raised prices here thinking I will go back to one of the mills for layer mash just have to store more to make the travel worth while

speaking of raised prices our gas jumped .20 yesterday, to $4.19 (not even a kiss getting screwed since June)

TO maybe "bantam quail"?

Jim hope the tractor saga comes to a conclusion for you soon, I'm sure the excitement of getting the rebuild done has worn off

bigz costs me $500 for exams and glasses every 2 years,,,,

for applesauce here I buy a bag or 2 of "deer apples" (from Door County culls) then halve them, simmer them to soft, and run them through a "Squeezo" if the apples are right no added sugar and very little cookdown for the texture I like. Last year I then cooked some of that down overnight in a crockpot with added spices for apple butter,,,,delish and the house realllllly smelled great for a couple of days

ok,,,bbl when it heats up
