Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all!
Spending a quiet morning on the couch with dogs plastered all over me. Aiden is kicking at something in his sleep. He keeps smacking my hip...*sigh*. This is the best part of the day for me!
The critters are all good. Not much happening there which is a good thing!!!
SG has finally broken her brood. Thank Gravy......DH asked me the other day if she was still brooding. I think he had his eye on some fertile eggs for her to hatch...Luckily she was just getting ready to break her brood I said "Nope! She is done!" Whoo hooo!!!

I think today will be garden clean out day. The weeds are horrible and the garden is done. Well, other then the Giant Peruvian Corn. That tasseled. I only have the one stalk that made it through the drought so I have no idea if it will even ear or whatever... If it's like other corn, it should pollinate it's self but I think it will run out of time to do much before the frost comes through.

Well, best get myself going!
Later!!

Kristip-Love the new lil grayish baby!! adorable!!! Same parents as the lil gray one your daugher is holding?

I have baby fever after going over to BBPs yesterday!! Chick baby fever thatis....trying to talk her out of one of her gray mottled banty cochins. The DH keeps saying bantys are worthless...I THINK we have plenty of egg layers sheesh and this is MY hobby for pets! LOL... he likes her Iowa Blue rooster the best...MEN.

( and BBP having a hard time getting going this morning

Good morning---lots to read and catch up for sure! Nearly lunch time! Let everyone out earlier and the JRT and BC ganged up on one of my pullets...dont know if they killed her or not before I got them into the kennel. They havent done that for so long I was shocked when they went after her. If DH wouldnt freak out so much and get the MORE excited it would be good...I nearly had them calmed down when he started yel

ling and hyped them up again! I just cant get it through his head that they react to HIM.

So the wedding was fun--we left early. The bride was beautiful as always....
DH got his pick posted on FB doing a "kegstand" at a party with DD20. What a dork!

Yes Ivomec is available at F&F. Not cheap though for sure. I think they have started carrying a smaller bottle for people that have just a few animals to use it on. I have also hear of peole using the pour on for cattle. I think it's a little cheaper. There is much info on worming here on the site...just get in the right forum and do a search...you will be reading for HOURS! (and will know about all sides of the story!)

Judge, you should try and make it to the fall bash if you can. I am sure it will be fun and you can meet all of us "chickenheads" as someone has recently started calling us.
Thanks for the potato report Amy! I am jealous that your Fingerlings actually turned out! That was one of my poorest producers for sure! Are you going to try and save some of the heirlooms for seeds for next year? I read a bit about it but I just dont see them lasting that long...waiting for your taste test results.

Well--dogs want to go out and DH is heading to Madison with DD20's scooter (why she needs a car AND a scooter at school is beyond me!) and grill...guess I better help. I will pack a bag of goodies for her at least.

Enjoy the day! Terri Oplanningonmakingsalsatodayanddiggingpotatoestoo

I'm on a mission this year! Today was creation lesson. The kids didn't know the name of the first man or woman! They didn't know about this snake who was Satan. They are in 2nd grade! Most of my class has been going to Sunday school since they were 4. They are now 8. Really?! What have we been doing wrong for them to not even know the Adam and Eve basics? So it's time for me to get creative. Think out of the box. Time to have lessons on the floor under the table. (they think its funny and listen decently)Time for a lesson while hanging in the basement by flashlight! I'm also implementing a pop quiz from the previous weeks lesson. You pay attention and answer the question, you get to pick a piece of candy from the bin. Bribery works!

Yes, judge come to the bash. It will be gooood fooooood and nice chit chat. The 6yr old was saying how he'd like to go to Chickenstock again. I said we're having a Mini in a few weeks. I told him Terri might bring a nice rooster for Harrison to pet. He says "oh that nice lady with the calm chicken? Oh I like him! (Tommy that is). I said the 2 dogs might be coming too, and he liked that as well. Then the oldest pipes up and says "I liked Robyn." I said she was coming too. (I refrained from correcting him about how abrasive and mean she really is... :D)

So it sounds like my children do have fond memories of the Big Bash. I still can't believe CC snowed them so completely!

I am pretty darn tired. The sleepover had some rough patches. Because of the soda I had at the movie last, I slept for about 3 hrs, before tossing and turning the rest of the night. My son came in twice because of being cold and needing socks or something. The third time was at 4:30 sobbing because of his guests, and he slept in his room. I had to go talk to the outside boys at 4:45 am and tell them to go to sleep. I got to sleep for may be another hr then had to get up and study my lesson for today and shower etc. ugh...get all boys, up and fed, ready for Sunday school, packed up ...... Etc etc. I'm freaking taking a nap!!!

Oh and one of the guests didn't want to come in the house after getting scolded, so sh!t outside my camper, stepped in it, walked in my camper, and left his sh!t smeared sock in the camper the rest of the night.

Yep... A nap and a drink (may be even the contraband smoke too!) are in order...

.... you guys are all the best! Assurance there are still decent people left on this planet!

Does anyone have a method of removing the grit off of zucchini without peeling it? I like to support the local farmer stand, but I might have to quit getting the zuc there since I can never get all the grit off! I have tried soaking it for a while and scrubbing the exterior until the skin is coming off and it STILL manages to hide some grit in there. Not the most pleasant sensation when you are chewing to bite down on sand......

Ok off I go again. I really should weed my front flower beds..... I can do that on Tuesday...

Angiebubs, not feeling to bad today. Slight headache and a little r
Tired. I think I drank less than anyone though. The guys with their pitchers had us,beat for sure! Come take whatever cochins you want. I'm only keeping 4 hens so I have 3 extra. And you're leaving room for a faverolles mix too right?

Weellllll BBP.....The mottled one I was holding-Is that one your keeping? I feel slightly obsessed over that lil one. I have 24 right now-and want to keep to a limit of 25 if possible. However Im re homing on of the boys next weekend so would have a spot for a fav/cochin mix? How difficult do you think it would be to introduce these one at a time? I dont see a issue with the mottled one as its about the same age as my youngest...think Minnie and this one would be besties!!! (Hmmmm Mickey? Although I dont want to jinx it being a hen) If your willing to let the mottled one go-how soon can I come get it? :-D

HI ALL!!
Angie,
Kristi's chick is a silkie, most of hers now reside with my second jaerhon flock. the rooster was a bit mean with her twins. I have the brother to that chick, in with two of my youngsters, he hatched out in the incubator. He is a gorgeous blue, and is already trying to crow.

We are all good here, DH is sick, dogs are good, horses are healthy... and I want to show everyone my "new" vehicle...
It is a KLUDGE-mobile, the previous owner took the bed off due to rot, and replaced it, but because he removed the rear tail lights, he replaced one side with trailer lights, he replaced the other with a motor cycle rear light, 3 of the turn lights are from a motorcycle...

The metal box is no longer there, and he stenciled "I think I can" several times on the LH fender, and "I am the 1%" on the back of the cab.
I covered up the "1%" with a BYC bumper sticker so it says "I am " -Chillin with my Peeps!.

Well I'm off.. I have always been a little off!!

Carol

Oh I would love to make it to the Fall Bash.. but I usually have to work.. which sucks!

Sunday Evening Already...where did the weekend go? Give Donny a high five for me Doc, and a way to go! Now on with the horns,eh!

My little saw is a McCulloch 2014...the oiler works fine, and I'll check the bar...thanks for the help. It has alot of hours on it for sure.

Suzie canned another 12 qts and 9 pints of V7 juice...we didn't have any spinach this batch...you would never know it by the good taste it has.

Good luck with the tractor Jim...hope it comes to life again soon for you.

I'm only cleaning up feathers in the cops TO....OH MY...they are like leaves in the fall on the ground around the spruce where they lay and preen. I like a halfway clean coop.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing them.

Did you guys grow any maters from the seeds I sent you..? MLH and Kris....just wondering.

bigz

bigz I haven't mentioned anything on that saw,

check the bar for sure, is it a sprocket tip? are the holes clean that the oil is supposed to flow through? is it worn thin at the outside? bars are replacement parts for sure,,, get an Oregon bar, keep it clean and grease tip every time you take it out

the go-to saw for all of the tree trimmers I know is the 028 Stihl, not sure if there has been a model change but for a light saw that is high performance that's the one

I use a 455 Husky, good all around saw for felling, firewood, or cleanup,,,,best feature imo is that it has a manual primer

pretty much goofed off on this last great weather day, lots of projects lined up for this week with rain and cold moving in,,,,,,
