Witnessed A Vandalism CLOSE-UP (UPDATE Post# 116)

First thanks for the garbage man update.Glad you got a company to do it for you.Atleast he was good for giving the name of them.

Your mailbox is beautiful. You could sell those online for some side cash. I am trying to picture your beautful box in between all those crushed and rusted ones leaning off to the side on a loose stand.Lol. I hope you get a picture of it one day,so I can see if it matches what I am thinking.

I have a plastic green mailbox, but the post is loose due to the snow plows. I may take the bottom off an leaking 5 gallon bucket, burying it most ways down around the post, and fill it up with concrete.Boy, those concrete bags are heavy. If I had problems with vandals I would use a steel post and/or brick for the mailbox!

Again, best wishes whatever you decide to do with the vandals. Not sure I would want ANY of them around my home even if I got them doing the most discusting of all chores.

Thanks for the compliments. I don't even have a duck pond, but I just conjured up a typical scene that are plentiful around here. Lots of ponds and lakes, lots of farms, lots of fields, and of course the mountains. It really helped cheer me up about the whole thing too. Made me remember why I do love this area. With the exception of the occasional crap like these kids, it really is a beautiful and scenic town.

Thanks. I painted my mailbox at my former residence too and was told I should sell them. I honestly don't think I'm very talented, so it surprises me every time. As far as picturing my box with the others, get an idea of it in your head, then exaggerate it, so it's worse than what you would think any logical person would hang back up, really beaten up, broken boxes, and there you have it.

There's really nothing for me to decide on as far as the vandals. It's out of my hands now. They are going to court, and I gave my statement, and that's pretty much that. Nothing for me to really pursue. Some may disagree with this, but I still do not plan to appear in court and make a stink beyond my statement because I am fearful of revenge. I live alone, I'm disabled, and I'm way out here. So I cannot risk going too far with this. There is plenty of evidence, other witnesses, and a video. Unless they ASK me to testify, I do not plan to make any more of this. I need to be safe first and foremost.

I like your new mailbox. We have a big locked one, but I am afraid to paint it beacuse we have mailbox vandals here, too. They would probably want to trash a pretty one. Its a shame that people are afraid to beautify things because it might attract attention. Good for you!

Box bashers are real common. We had a guy here that filled a mailbox with concrete and placed it next to his. When they hit it with a bat while driving by it just about killed the kid. The mailbox owner went to jail. The kid went to the hospital.

I guess they both learned a lesson.

It's better just to build your mailbox enclosed by bricks as is real common now.

I honestly do not understand what is wrong with making a bat proof mailbox. If someone breaks their arms trying to destroy it, well then... the completely deserve what they got. If more people did it, less people would try to bash boxes. Strange world we live in...

I want to say I am so glad you are ok! Scary stuff girl ! Second small towns can be hard to deal with, the best thing is you are ok! Sweetie, you need a gun, living alone one needs one for any kind of protection, and you live alone. I live in the city and have a real nice hand gun. To those who did this, it always come back on ya for doing wrong, I know that dealing with this crap is hard. Just know we care and we are so glad you are ok. Best of luck to you and take care of your self being out in the sticks you need protection Hon, really you do. What if they came on your land, starting bashing things, even shooting a gun in the air will stop them in there tracks! I will be praying they get punished and also have to make restitution!
