He has as much right to touch her as security does. How much they can touch is different from one state to another. Some states they could have put her on the floor an handcuffed her till the cops got there.

Sounds like she's just a troublemaker looking for some money. Seems like we're getting a lot of that these days.

He can also tell the nightmare customer stories, and your description of corporate bottom-line and employee expectations is 100% dead-on accurate. It's truly amazing what people will and do complain about, then demand money off the bill or a free service for their car or fee this or that. I've gotten used to the stories, but when he first started telling me about the people who were scamming the stores I was shocked because I would never think of treating a store like that.

Media says manager slapped the phone out of her hand...others said manager pushed the phone from her hand. His physical contact to put his hand on her, whatever reason, is not allowed so the manager is partly at fault as much as she is for disobeying the rules.
How can it be if it is a public place vs private place? If you have a lot of people in a given area that is open to everyone, that is public. A private place is a place that certain people or no one else can come into the property. Yes, she should NOT video the cash register and people around them without asking permission.
I agree with Dunkopf, she is looking for trouble, or start something that really didn't need to go that far to get them into court. If she decides to sue for deframation and possibly assault and battery charges, Wal Mart can sue right back at her for disorderly conduct, breaking the rules of privacy, etc. who would win? I would say the same thing for my hubby who used to work for Sears, warehouse. The horror and MESS it created for these guys to FIND anything in the warehouse within a certain amount of time and have to give the customer a free voucher of something. When he was terminated there, after several years, he went back to pick up something at the pick up zone, waiting....the customer ahead of him waited over half an hour for her item. The stock boy finally came out and hubby spoke up and told the boy to give her a free voucher because she waited too long for him to pick up the item to the door. Oh that didn't go over very well with the boy and his manager which hubby insisted on it and that was ONE happy customer, getting three free vouchers for her time in waiting LOL! Oh the scowl on their faces! Well, they took their sweet time finding the item, walking around, eating and drinking pop while the customers were out there waiting. They have lost too many good people in that store and customer satisfaction was waaaaaaaaaaaay down.
