I saw my silkie rooster mating today. Wasnt sure if he was since he just turned 10 months old and my last rooster didnt start till around 11 months. I trimmed his butt and the girls butts. I have about 10-14 days left before I can start collecting his eggs.

Thats great and all, but a little bad news about that........if a rooster mates in front of you, he, in a way, is not scared of you and he thinks he's at the top of the pecking order and your below him.........The chickens should think of you as the leader or you are at the top of the order.......only if you dont care about mean roosters!

Chicken0Boy, that rule really only applies to breeds that aren't docile like silkies and special situations with other breeds.
