World Egg Day Hatchalong!(October 12, 2012 is World Egg Day!)

If I can get some BR eggs I will keep 30 pullets and 5 RIR for males for next years Black sexlinks. The rest I will sell.

I had a huge drop in temp in my incubator for some reason, it dropped to 94.5.

It took two days of adjusting every couple hours to get it back to 99.5. Not sure why it dropped in the first place! I am hoping all the chicks made it, I have not candled anything yet. Now I am afraid to do it! Poor little serama eggs!

I had the same thing happen yesterday. It dropped to 95, so I adjusted(big mistake) and then the temp flew up to 102. GRR. I checked them after, all are still fertile but 4 like before. I am so mad about it. I paid big buckaroos for those things. Darn LG incubator. I wish I had a brinsea....

Serama have a hard hatchability rate right? I read that somewhere though now I cannot remember. Anyway, going to candle again this morning to check if I lost any overnight. Praying not :(

I wish you good luck, don't stress about it too much. 102 isn't going to kill them and I have had plently of eggs survive 8 hour long power outages in which they sat at 70 degrees. The younger they are the more fragile, but I even had one 15 day old embryo survive on the kitchen table at 70 degrees for 3 days and 3 nights. I couldn't believe it myslef! He didn't develope during though 3 days, but he survived them.

I plan on giving eggs in incubator that temp dropped in an extra couple days to hatch. Once they get to the 20 day range i have trouble telling if they are still good or not.

Ah I see! I hope you have a really great hatch!

Oh Herducks! I'm so sorry, and fingers crossed they're ok. If you were fluxuating, and it was on average 97, or the eggs stayed warm themselves, they might be ok. My fingers crossed for you!!!
