Would like some help on quail

If you use a heat plate, make sure you set it low. Some people (especially those using the Brinsea or similar) have trouble with them because the plates are difficult to set low enough to the ground for tiny quail chicks. To work, the chicks need to be able to touch the plate sometimes (but not be in contact constantly). I love my heat plate, and I think my birds do too.

I like my Premier 1 heat plates. You raise and lower it by adjusting the leg height. The lowest setting on the legs is just right for coturnix chicks. I did have some chicks in one batch that took a couple days to learn to use it. Found a few of them cold and almost dead one morning. But a bit of nutri drench and tucking them back under the plate and they were fine within a couple hours. Oddly the others in the batch used it just fine. :idunno
