I am friendly with my was band and there is no way I would do this for him. And he knows better to even ask.
He too was verbally abusive. also emotionally abusive and at time physically abusive as well.
I have moved on. remarried to a great man that is none of the above. My wasband? Still single. There is a reason for it!

Okay, thanks so much everyone. I've made my decision. I just wanted to get some feedback as to whether I was thinking fairly or not. I don't feel comfortable "recommending" him this way, but these decisions aren't so easy when I am still friends with him. And yes, I can still feel okay being friends with him at this point. I'm out of the situation, he's apologized and we've moved on, albeit separately. I don't mind doing an occasional favor as a friend, but this is one favor I just don't feel right doing. Thanks for all the input and I'll ask the mods to close this now so we don't start beating a dead horse, and since I've made my decision.
