One adult Sweetgrass tom, 5 adult Sweetgrass hens, 1 adult Blue Slat hen, 2 two month old Sweetgrass poults, 7 Sweetgrass poults that are less than one month old. Two of the adult hens are sitting on nests due to hatch at the end of the month.

A few days ago I saw a new to me bird at the suet feeder. Today I found it hiding in the plum trees.

On another note, the living room has a pleasant aroma. I started a batch of rhubarb wine and it is burping away in the living room. Normally when a wine is working this hard it gives off an alcohol aroma. There is a slight rhubarb scent mixed in with a sweetness.

What a cool bird! And I could live with the smell of rhubarb! I love that stuff - have a stalk every morning for breakfast. It’s been cold enough here tgatvit hasn’t gotten the stringy, woody texture and hasn’t even gone to seed yet.

I have not seen the Yellow-billed Cuckoo today but I did hear it singing. Hopefully it will heal and survive.

It felt like fall this morning. It was 43°F. The Nanking Cherries are getting ripe and the robins are sitting on the power line above them ready to pounce on them.
