yard long egg or foot long egg

When I was a kid we used to vacation in New braunfels, Texas.
Its a great czech and german influence place...we used to eat at a place and they had either a foot long or yard long boiled egg
does anybody know how this was done?

The restaraunt industry used to buy these for use in salad bars, ect--it is eggs that are processed into a long two foot tube so they can be sliced. I don't know if they still do it that way or not. My Dad was in the wholesale food distribution business for 42 years & I was always fascinated by those "rolls" of eggs!

How do they do that? Cook the yolks in a cylinder until firm and then add the whites? Crazy!

I'm allergic to eggs. It's been so long since I've had one that I could probably eat a foot or at least 6 inches. Allergies suck!
