Yeah, with the drum style pluckers you can drop 2 or 3 birds in at a time. Or a 40 lb turkey. Younger birds, Cornish X and BBW turkeys come out pretty clean. Older chickens still have some hand picking to do since their feathers are just harder to get out.
I saw that quail plucker but I think it would just slow me down. The way I do it now is just 5-7 minutes per bird and that's from crate to cooler. It is a great price though. But I'm okay with cooking skinless quail.
That makes sense that younger birds come out cleaner, so a Whiz-bang is probably ideal for Cornish X chickens.
Actually, I always smoke my birds skinless. I brine them with the skin on, but the smoke and rub penetrate the meat better without the skin on the bird, and sometimes the skin can be too tough when it's in the smoker. (I make cracklin's out of the skin.)
Hey, Jack, are we still on for processing the quail tomorrow? Please let me know.
LOL...oh yea, like I needed another major coop project like I needed a hole in the head! I've got so many projects going or in line to do, its not even funny!
What's one more project in the never-ending list?

Hi all. I'm looking for Black Copper Maran chicks or hatching eggs for sale. I'm in Greensboro GA and willing to travel. Thanks!
I don't have anything available right now, but if Newnan isn't too far for you to travel, I have a breeder friend there with excellent FBCM stock and fair prices when he has eggs and/or chicks available. PM me if you're interested and want to follow up.
They're cheap enough now that I don't think you can. A member here on another thread bought one of these and really liked it: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/yardbird-chicken-plucker?cm_vc=-10005 Said it seemed very well built.
Yes, that's an excellent price for a Yardbird!
